NGD - cheating on Ibanez, again.

I could write a long boring story about why I settled for one of these eventually, after months of back and forth. But to make a very long story short, this is what arrived by FedEx yesterday. And it's also Rich's fault that I cheat on Ibanez once more - if he'd have a decent J Custom with offset dots in his used inventory, I'd not have gotten this baby, lol.

My PRS Custom 24 2010 Limited in Charcoal, #140 of 200 - the top has what I call character, the gold hardware gives it the bling, the black back adds to the style. I'll do a setup adjustment tomorrow, as it's in grandpa-style right now. But sounds ultra sweet.

Re: NGD - cheating on Ibanez, again.

Congrats. I had a PRS Custom 24 hardtail once but never warmed up to it.

Besides, I learned the best way to cheat on Ibanez without cheating on Ibanez. Get one custom made.

Nice guitar. BTW If I ever cheat on Ibanez it'll also be Rich's fault for not giving me free guitars .

I agree I think the top has character That's great looking guitar there and I'm liking the 5 way blade switch

(and I'm not even a big figured maple fan)

Dude - what I really want still is an offset-dot J Custom, preferably an RG8570 TB or a neck-through. If you ever get one in, get ready for some serious e-mail harassment till I have it. I keep checking your used section almost religiously ever since I got my out-of-this-world RG8470F FE from you.

The top is really something else. It's an artist grade top, but it must have been cut way off the perpendicular axis, which gives it this great contrast in the flame.

The PRS trem is a little bit of a different beast to me, I'll give it some work on Sunday to get it to my specs. The trem is surprisingly responsive and smooth, and has a great feel to it when resting my picking hand. The neck is killer, the PRS standard neck carve convinces me once more that it's not about how thin a neck is but how it's shaped.

I still have to figure out how the pickups dial into my amp settings, these are the lowest output ones I have, but the tone is very organic and responsive. Yet, the 5-way switch is really good to have compared to the usual PRS 5-way rotary switch, which is very awkward if you're used to blade switches.

The most particular thing however is the guitar's scent. All guitars have a different scent I think (maybe I'm crazy?). The PRS blew me away when opening the case with some very floral notes.

Funnily, they added a spare back plate to save the signed one's gold writing.

I'll be the first to admit I've been ignoring them considering how many seem to only want the vine. When some capitol frees up I'll start picking up a few and see how it goes.

It's not cheating when your new girlfriend is a supermodel.
