NGD! Custom Tele

My first tele Custom built semi-hollow body by luthier Mike Smith, H-S-S DiMarzios (with a coil tap on the bridge pup), 22 fret Warmoth maple neck with an ebony fretboard, licensed Floyd (soon to be blocked) and a non-locking nut.

The story behind the guitar is that someone ordered it as a custom build, but couldn't afford to pay for it. 6 years later, it ended up in my favourite well-kept-secret second hand guitar store for R6000 (about $600 in guitar terms), the guy was just selling it to recoup the building costs. It took me about two chords of testing to realise I wanted it

Blurry cellphone camera pics:

Isn't she lovely? My girlfried decided to call her Lucy, I think it suits her.

Wow I manage to buy a guitar with the famous Lo-Pro and I don't even notice How much work is involved in installing a locking nut? I'm no luthier when it comes to this stuff.

I'll post pics of the headstock tonight, it does look like an RG head from that angle, but the carve is slightly different from the RG head.

Re: NGD! Custom Tele

You should probably have a luthier install one for you. I'm not sure how much it would cost though.

Re: NGD! Custom Tele

Or you could get locking tuners and a roller nut, might cost about the same as the locking nut idea though...

I would prefer to do this as it sounds like it would have minimal impact on the guitar in terms of chopping out wood. I'll have a talk to my luthier about it when I next see him

Re: NGD! Custom Tele

It may look nicer, but I doubt it would be as stable... Take it to a tech, a locking nut shouldnt be expensive, and i cant see how installing it would require more work (aka be more expensive) for a tech than the roller nut and locking tuners (if they dont just fit right from the start)

Re: NGD! Custom Tele

I know it's heresy to say this on an Ibanez-themed forum, but I think I'm gonna keep the bridge blocked
