NGD!!! :D

So, I teased long enough... Here is my new Ibanez:

RGR580M

Reverse headstock AND mahogany body. Mine is a 1998, the first year they were produced. This is a Japan market guitar, not available anywhere else (based on the research I did on the model) The color has faded quite a bit, and there is some gunk on the fingerboard but it's in REALLY good condition. A couple dings and that's it. The pups are still stock V6s and what little I've heard, they are really solid pups.

Nice. Some simple green will take care of the grime. How are the frets?

They felt fine, gonna lower the action (it's way too high for me) in a little while and play it more. I traded in my TS9DX and 550CA to get a lower price on this baby and the frets feel nicer than the ones that my 550 had.

What's green? I have no idea what kind of stuff people use for cleaning grime off of fingerboards

Congrats, the white body with the maple fingerboard is killer combination.

That's why it was worth it to say goodbye to my 550 in order to get this one. Totally happy with this purchase

That would have been a really hard choice for me man, but the 550 was my first Ibby so i'm partial to it, still i really dig that RGR you got, Maple board, reverse headstock, direct mounted pick ups, lo pro edge and the beautiful white finish, it could definitely became my main axe if i owned one.

Nice guitar! Never seen one before... Great addition to the family though. I looked up the specs and that has the makings of a great axe!

He was talking about "Simple Green", a cleaner/degreaser thats been around for a long time. I use it on motorcycles and anything else.

It's original edge, not lo pro

My only concern is changing strings... I've never done it on a reverse headstock before so I'm thinking maybe I'll have someone do it for me once and I watch so I can learn the right way how to do it. The low E being pulled that far is a little scary so just want to be cautious

My first Ibby was a GRX40 beam blue, my first RG was my RG350EXZ, and my first MIJ was my 1550. My first golden era was my 550 (then a week or 2 later, i got a 560 )

Don't think we have that here in Japan. I need to see if there's any other substitute I can use that I can find over here. Well that won't happen until I change the strings so it'll be awhile

why so scare about it?
it's no different than normal head, only you need to get used to it.
for the first time, maybe you just need a little more effort.

Looks great. White with maple boards is the way to go and you can't beat old school RGs.

This. Being that my first Ibby was AANJ, when I played my 550, it was a little harder to play because of the square heel. Also, even with the square heel, I like my 560 more because the neck is much smoother and faster. I liked my 550, but a reverse headstock mahogany body RG was just too good to pass up.

BTW, this only only cost me about 200 USD with trade in. 200 bucks for a guitar like this? HELL YES

Re: NGD!!! :D

I've just got to wonder, once again, why would you pay someone to change strings just because it's a reverse headstock? Just do it yourself, even if it's not the greatest job you will probably pay the equivalent of three sets of strings. Id rather get three string changes done myself than give someone else a chance to screw it up anyway.

That's very true. On top of that, The store gave me a point card that I can use for discounts on stuff so I can get a set of strings for free (not like I need any right now, I have plenty here at home )
