Hi everyone,

In my search for a sexy looking mahogany axe for the heavier rhythms, to accompagny my basswood Ibanez JEM7DBK and alder Washburn N4 N3-edition, I ended up falling in love with the design of a Dean '79 MLF Trans Brazilia. Must admit that I was quite sceptical about purchasing a Dean. While the brand is loved, it's also hated as much...

I really have to say: I really like playing it a lot, it has a tremendous fun factor and if I see it, I almost can't resist the urge grabbing it and playing on it. Very vibrant body when you play it, even acoustic. The design is way cool and hot at the same time My other 2 guitars are simply other beasts, but I owned a Gibson Flying V '67 reissue, and this Dean just plays better, can't help it. Not that I'm rubbing expensive guitars in the dirt here, my Jem and N4 are each 3-4x as expensive. But for the price I payed for this Dean, amazing, could have been double in price.

Here are some pics of the '02 I found in almost mint condition. There was a Seymour Duncan Invader mounted at the bridge (not entirely sure if i'm gonna keep it, but we'll see. The original Zebra came with it. And I have an EMG81 waiting to eat some mahogany.

So, picas... Here goes:

I don't quite understand a lot of the Dean hate I've seen around here. I mean obviously there is going to be a pro Ibanez slant here but I Dean seems to get almost as much hate as Chibanez copies do. Don't see why they're great guitars in my experience. Personally don't like to many of them but to each their own.

Pretty hot but I'm not a fan of flamed sunbursts. Don't know why just don't them but I believe it plays better than it was worth.

The headstock doesn't do it for me as well as the SD pups....but otherwise it's a damn sexy rock guitar.
