NGD: ESP M-1 Tiger George Lynch Signature

Just arrived this morning. Almost dead mint condition other than some crusty strings and tarnished frets. Got those quickly sorted out and have it ready to rock! Definitely the fastest received -> NGD thread ever for me

This thing is a TANK! I didn't know that a solid maple guitar could be this much heavier, but this guitar falls into "holy sh!t" heavy range. The guitar plays really nicely and the sustain is unreal. Not sure how much of that is maple body and how much is the OFR? The neck feels great on this guitar, kind of like an old Jem except finished baby smooth with some sort of satin finish.

The 43mm nut on a 45mm neck is a surprisingly great idea and didn't take really any time to adjust to (compared with playing my 540P that has a 45mm nut and neck). Basically it feels a lot like an old Jem, but with an extra mm of wood outside the low and high E strings. This seems to give you a lot more real estate for vibrato on those strings. I didn't really notice the extra width as much with the string spacing being the same.

The only thing that sucks about this guitar is the location of the truss rod adjustment. It's at the base of the neck and is only accessible with the neck off the guitar. Really stupid if you ask me. What makes it especially dumb is that the headstock is like a JS, so you should be able to access the truss rod there. I don't get it?

Anyway, on to the pics!

Thanks. I'm pretty thrilled with the guitar. The Screamin' Demon is pretty interesting. It seems more bass heavy than the PAF Pro, FRED or F2, which are the usual bridge pickups I use. I kind of expected it to be really bright. But harmonics are super easy on it.

Thanks, gents. I'm loving this thing to death. Still love my Ibanez collection, but I'm really glad I tried something else as well.

Nice score...

I am considering venturing outside of the Ibanez arena.. I have always wanted a Nuno N4 and Stienberger Vitto Bratta style axe!!!!

Now I see what you mean about the yellow tint on my pics.. I need better lighting or more natural light..

Your pics are very nice.. What kind of camera are you using?

Really nothing special for a camera. It's an old Canon S50 point-and-shoot. I know a fair bit about photography so that helps. I only shoot in fairly bright natural light and I use the camera in Program mode instead of auto. This allows me to set the ISO, white balance and exposure control myself. I shoot at the lowest possible ISO and often times will slightly overexpose the picture (based on what the crappy light meter thinks).

There is also some Photoshop trickery in my pictures, although really not that much. I use the Unsharp Mask filter on pretty much all my pictures. Other than that, I might tweak the brightness and contrast a bit, but the colors are exactly as the camera captured them.

I told you that thing was heavy. My Kamikaze is the same. When I picked it up for the first time I was like HOLY CRAP!

Re: NGD: ESP M-1 Tiger George Lynch Signature

Thanks! Yeah, when I pick this thing up to play I actually get a little concerned and hold onto it extra tight, like it's prone to slip out of my hand at any time. My Ibanez guitars are so much lighter that I'm much more cavalier with picking them up.
