My FIRST J-Custom NGD! Oh Yeah!
So she didn't actually arrive
today. I've had it for about a week, and have been so busy playing her that I haven't had time to even give it my customary, ritualistic pre-play cleaning; muchless take pics. I was so excited to unbox and decase her that I felt like a virgin on prom night, fumbling with a bra strap.
I'd wanted my first J-custom to be a 7, specifically in the VV finish, and my dream guitar has always been an RG7CST, so I could have the piezo. Problem being, on the uber rare occasion that they come up, they're typically more dinged up than I want them to be, for more $ than I wanted to pay for a dinged up one (no matter how rare they are). Same goes for the RG7CT.
So I'm browsing around the net, and find this sweetie labeled an "Ibanez 7-String Prestige" in excellent condition, for what I'd consider a pretty amazing price. It has regular instead offset dots, and an Edge Pro 7, so I know it's not a CST or CT. I call the shop that has it, and the guy says "oh you mean the "Prestige J-Custom". My head explodes for a second when I realize they don't know the difference, but they confirm it says J-custom on the headstock and Prestige on the case.
They send some pics. She's in nigh flawless condition with the exception of some light pic scratching on the body and headstock. After a couple web searches, I realize what it is and obviously pick it up.
I've had her for a week, and though she doesn't have the crazy ball end fretwork, the frets/neck feel AMAZING. I can now personally attest to the J-Custom hype. Holy cow does she sound and play amazingly. Even with a TZ in the bridge.
Without further adieu, here's my new girlfriend. Forgive the swirlmarks, she's only been rubbed lightly with a cloth. Polishing comes this weekend.
Now on to that new 6 string JC2011BGA I need to pre-order from Rich.... I smell the old wife cooking up napalm already....why doesn't she understand?
