Smile NGD Ibanez 1550M

this just arrived at my house on Saturday from Japan (thanks MeesterSparkle)
the guy knows how to pack a guitar that's for sure. the Guitar is spotless it's a 2009 and it looks literally unplayed.
I'm loving the neck on this thing it's considerably "bigger" feeling than any 550's I've owned or my 560, I quite like it, but not too sure about the stock pickups.
I have an Evo neck (I pulled from my Charvel)
I have 3 pickups on hand I could throw into the bridge
Timmons At-1
Gravity Storm
Duncan Distortion
I don't know which one would match up best with the Evo neck any sugestions?
Pics:
from Jims Ebay listing where I first saw it

Re: NGD Ibanez 1550M

Nice one. I really like these guitars. You sold your 1560 to Ryc, correct? Do you just prefer the pickguard and the humbucker in the neck?

I think that the Gravity Storm is a great bridge pickup for a basswood guitar. I think it should work just fine with an Evolution neck.

Re: NGD Ibanez 1550M

never had a 1560 (I would've held on to one of those )
I have a 560 (with a GS in the bridge) that I like quite a bit.

Re: NGD Ibanez 1550M

Super nice man, I'd love to have one to sit next to the 1560. I probably wouldn't mod the 1550.

Jesse, I bought mine from Jclogston.

FWIW, I have both an AT1 and Gravity Storms in a couple of guitars. The GS is a little more versatile, but the AT1 has a clarity to it that the GS just can't replicate. You really can't choose badly between the two. I'm not such a big fan of the Duncan Distortion- it's pretty hot in comparison to your other choices. It also has a lot more "snarl" to it.

Re: NGD Ibanez 1550M

I agree the Duncan I just happen to have so I figured I'd throw it out there.

Sweet Happy NGD!

I have the 1550MZ (same color too!) but mine is the Edge Zero version... the edge zero version was never released in Japan so it's kinda cool to have something no one over here has. I love that guitar Mine's gonna become my Ibanez strat, with 3 singles

Re: NGD Ibanez 1550M

I'm really loving this guitar and surprisingly the stock pickups down't actually suck.
This thing sounds pretty good as is.
I have an Evo for the neck and Gravity storm for the bridge but I'm in no rush to swap these out yet. Sounds especially good through my JVM

Re: NGD Ibanez 1550M

dropped off today with my tech for that pickup swap and a full set up.
It's already set up pretty well but I like for him to go over every nook and cranny when I get a new guitar.
Sounded pretty good with the stock pickups ,can't wait to hear it with "really good" pickups

Wow someone who likes the V7/V8 I never liked them very much, changed them for a GS in the neck and bridge and kept them there for a long time, but since mine is getting switched over to SSS, those have got to go. I like the GS bridge, the neck, no matter how hard I try, I just don't gel with.

Re: NGD Ibanez 1550M

ya well after "thinking" I liked the V7/V8 pickups I plugged in one of my other guitars and
I realized immediately.................."these have got to go" so they are being swapped right now.
One of my problems is that I have a Mesa Mark IV and a JVM, everything sounds good through the Mark IV.
The JVM is modded and really sounds like an angry JCM800 now and you can really hear tonal differences between guitars.
They sounded like ass through the JVM, especially the bridge.
