NGD: J.Custom RG8620S NT

Finally picked up one of my personal "holy grail" guitars. I've been obsessed with this guitar since finding out about it four years ago. In that time, I don't believe I've ever seen one for sale, other than one that unfortunately had the neck removed (and the person who bought the neck repainted the headstock black!).

The original seller of the guitar (Mae Guitars) has the production of the 8620S as 16 (including one with the PR finish). With one I know of having a non-original neck, that puts these out there in very small numbers. I know that many of the shop specials are one of six, but this is hands down the lowest production guitar I own.

The sale was one of the stranger ones I've dealt with. The seller was only about five miles away from me so I went over there to pick up the guitar. He took it out and literally handled it with tissues LOL! He'd had the guitar for a number of years and said that he had literally never played it. He seemed a little bit distraught when I told him I intended to play the guitar and had to put him at ease by saying that this was definitely a "home use only" guitar. I had to actually show him the money before he'd let me handle the guitar!

Anyway, this guitar is absolutely fantastic and was really close to a perfect setup as is. The body is absolutely flawless, not even pick swirls. There was a little dirt on the fretboard by the first few frets, but no fret wear at all. I'm sure this thing has been played, but probably only a few minutes. Frets needed to be polished up and it needed some new strings, but now I'm looking forward to using this thing for what it was designed to do!

Really sweet flamed and spalted top!

Amazing guitar and a great score. Certainly on my list of JC's to own as well. Had this in my watched items on the bay, seller said he wouldn't ship internationally but was interested to see what it would go for. Major congratz on this one, glad to find out that you got it!!

Re: NGD: J.Custom RG8620S NT

I've been very fortunate recently with a couple local sellers who have put up really nice guitars for sale where I have really gotten an advantage by being able to show up and pay cash.

The seller did say that the international interest in this was pretty crazy. He said he got a number of really serious offers for more than I paid from Japan, Australia and the UK. He said one guy got really nasty with him over email because he wouldn't ship internationally.

None of his other guitars were anything special, but he had some really nice amps. After seeing my car, he asked if I was into Japanese cars and brought me to his garage and showed me his Nissan S15 Silvia Spec R.

Re: NGD: J.Custom RG8620S NT

Yeah, he seemed pretty firm on the ad about no international shipping so I didn't even bother contacting him. The guitar being only 5 miles away from you was a great piece of luck. I was offered that other hybrid one recently that has the 8570 neck on it, def gave it some consideration but import duty would slay me and I'd rather have it all original like your's tbh. It really is a stunning guitar and a keeper for sure.

Very unusual but gorgeous splated maple top and matching headstock. It always speaks quality with a matching headstock. Team J went over the top on that rare beauty. Congrats!

Wow! I have always wanted one of these. Was this the one on the Bay a couple of weeks ago?

Yes, this is the one that was on eBay. It didn't hit the reserve so I arranged a cash sale with the seller afterward.

Very purdy guitar almost looks like marble in the one picture. Matching headstock is really sweet too. Good luck with it.
