I actually picked this up last fall, in the middle of a bunch of travel for band & work, so I never got it posted. This morning I had it out, and we had some sunshine in Toledo for the first time in months.. and the color just popped out in the sunlight in a way I hadn't seen before..
From my understanding elsewhere on this forum, these were a limited run for Ibeke in Japan... and it is an amazing instrument. I snatched it used off the 'bay from a Japanese seller. Even though I asked repeatedly for him to remove the DiMarzio cliplocks, he didn't, and they put some dents in it around the strap button area. And the volume knob also came off in shipping and left some minor dents in the top. He sells a lot internationally, so he should be better at it. I told him so.... But honestly, compared to what they sell for new, I stole it at the price I paid, so I don't really have anything to complain about.
ANYWAY.... The pictures don't do it justice. Like all JC's I've seen, there's a 3D look to the flame that you can't capture well with anything but your eyes. I love original edge paired with the modern features: locking tuners, flame maple binding, molded JC case, cert, no string retaining bar on headstock, neck width. For the record, I like all of the trems they offer for different reasons...I'm not hung up on the original edge - but it's super cool in this format. The Tone Zone in the bridge & Air Norton in the neck is a great setup as well... It plays & sounds great, and it's not mint, so I feel like I can play it without being afraid of it.
The photos were on a whim with my phone....enjoy.
