NGD: Made my decision (finally)

Well after lots of meditation I came to the decision that this is what I wanted:

I decided to skip the Genesis collection 550. Why? I have essentially two 550s (my Candy Apple 550 and my 1550) and I wanted the H-S-S setup. Not to mention it was cheaper AND the genesis collection guitars look to be extremely limited production (less than 25th from everything I've gathered) so I decided it's better to get this one.

In terms of overall condition, this thing is BEAUTIFUL. There are hardly any scratches on it and it's only missing the rear cover for the springs. The humbucker was replaced and I dont know what it is, but it IS a Dimarzio, that's for sure. Sounds AMAZING, even though I dont know what pickup it is.

Frets seem a little worn, but they arent too bad. Rosewood fretboard has no problems whatsoever. Neck is in perfect shape. Body has like 1 tiny ding on it but it's not even noticeable.

Couple questions though:

The serial number=made in 1990?

The Bridge=original edge? It looks different than the lo pro on my 550 so I'm assuming if it's a 1990 it has to be an original Edge.

Nice buy man!

It looks like it's a Lo-pro Edge. Same as my 1990 RG570.

BTW, the serial means 1990, right? I've looked on both Rich's site about the serials and other sites as well and I'm not sure which is right lol

You know, I'm thinking of doing the magnet switch on my V7/V8 and sticking the V8 into this. Might sound awesome

Oh okay. At least it's a lo pro I'm happy with either one so I'm in a good mood today

I'm thinking about putting in Andy Timmons pups, not sure yet.

Re: NGD: Made my decision (finally)

Oh and BTW, this is a minor addition to my original post as to why I got this guitar instead of the Genesis:

In order to order the Genesis, I would need to pay more than half of the money up front to even hold it. I dont have that much money on hand to put down on it so I basically decided to forget about it. I MAY consider getting one if I see a chance to get one, but instead of taking a chance and not even getting one, it was easier to just go and pick this one up and bring it home same day.

One thing I didnt notice about it till about an hour ago... Depending on the lighting, the color changes slightly. From distance it looks kinda reddish-purple but when I was looking at it closely under the light, it had tints of other colors in it... AKA I got the best of both worlds with this guitar I got the very slight color changing paint AND at a cheaper cost than the Genesis AND it's in amazing condition.

One question about the At pups: Are they okay on really overdriven settings? Gain maxed on amp plus gain boosted through an OD pedal? I know they are fairly soft pups so I need to know a little bit about them before I put em in.

Nice guitar. The Lo-Pro is almost certainly a retrofit. Based on the serial number/color combo, the guitar should have come with an original Edge. No big deal, they're completely interchangeable trems.

Yeah, and as long as it's not an Edge 3 or TRS I'm happy. Actually I'm kind happy it's a lo pro, makes it easier to understand my 550 since it also has a lo pro

Oh and the color, according to Ibanez Japan's catalogue is Purple neon

Oh man, it's a purple neon? To me that's even better than grape ice! What a score. I just got a second RG570PN. I'm delighted to find out that Ibanez did the 560's in PN. Now I'm on the lookout for one big time!!!

Rock on dude, enjoy your NGD!
