NGD!! My favorite Holiday!!

NGD! Just picked up this sweet custom built strat. Warmoth alder body with chameleon paint (goes from red to purple to blue to green depending on lighting...the paintjob was done by a custom painter for a car/motorcycle shop), maple neck with rosewood fretboard, EMG DG20 david gilmour pickup set (LOVE em), standard fender bridge which is gonna be swapped soon for a Wilky two point trem, and schaller tuners. I absolutely love this thing. It's very hard to capture how it looks in the pics cuz of the chameleon paint, but I tried. An absolute steal for the price, plus I got a free second neck in the deal with a maple fretboard should I wish to swap. Enjoy the pictures!

Re: NGD!! My favorite Holiday!!

nice, I like that paint job.

You might have some routing issues if you try to put in a Wilkinson 2-point trem. Try the Wilkinson 6 screw bridge, same design as the 2-point, but uses the traditional 6-screw routing.

Appreciate the kind words . I was thinking that I would have to add some mass in to get a two-point trem to work, but i REALLY like the two point wilky. I'll look into the one you mentioned though, thanks!

Nice one dude. If you go the two point route check out the fender floyds. If you combine them with a slick nut and locking tuners you will love the rock solid tuning.

Thanks Cosmic. I'll take a look at all the trem options, I wasnt even planning on picking this up but it was a very good price and I have a lota trouble turning down stuff like that when it comes to guitars... Right now there are Schallers on it but I think I'm gonna swap for Sperzel locking, those are my fave tuners.

Re: NGD!! My favorite Holiday!!

Two more pics folks. I managed to get two good shots of the paint, at least as far as purple/blue goes (pardon reflections).

Re: NGD!! My favorite Holiday!!

Also, does anyone know what trems would fit here without any routing or holes left to be seen? Thanks

Re: NGD!! My favorite Holiday!!

The Callaham Vintage trem seems to be the favorite among many vintage trem fans: http://www.callahamguitars.com/

And that Wilkinson I was talking about: http://www.stewmac.com/shop/Bridges,...e_Tremolo.html

That's the StewMac link, you might be able to find it elsewhere for cheaper. And yeah it is a tad ugly, but it's super functional.

Re: NGD!! My favorite Holiday!!

Thanks man! Not gonna name an exact price but it ended up costing me (with the 300 dollar EMGs and custom finish and everything) less than a new Fender MIM strat. Dont think I couldve possibly gotten a better guitar for that kinda money. I wish I could get the finish to come out the way it looks in real life but I'll probably need more than my 100 dollar Canon...

And thanks CityofBlindingLights, I'll check it out. I've actually never even heard of Callaham, but I've always been a floyd or tonepros kinda guy so I havent really looked into other companies.

Re: NGD!! My favorite Holiday!!

Callaham is an excellent trem, but if you've got a USA trem on there now you could probably get away with just a Callaham block. Don't swap the bridge for the sake of swapping it if the tone is clear and sustain is good, those are decent bridges.

I actually have no idea is this is a USA trem or a mexistrat trem or what. The original owner didnt know either. Right now it doesnt need a setup but when the strings wear out and I do a setup ill pull it and see, I'm curious. Thanks for the advice though, if it turns out to be a USA i will probably leave it.
