NGD: OBG

As mentioned in my shipping thread, NGD. Maybe it's kind of an Ibanez since it was made in the Fuji-Gen factory. Looks and plays great, kind of a chunky neck. Unfortunately the bridge pick up seems to be shot. It wont be hard to find a replacement, but Im disappointed that its not working.
Anyway its an Orville By Gibson with a Koa top made in 1995. Neither picture really captures the color perfect, but its enough to get the basic idea.

I've been watching this guitar for a while but never wanted to pay what the guy was asking, so I threw a low ball offer at the guy and he ended up taking it. Then I was stuck buying it

It looks to have a really nice top on it, but it's hard to tell through the blur

Congrats on the new axe man!

If I were a smart man, I wouldve just used the seller's picture from go.

Nice one dude. However, can you lick the strings like Mr. Via does?

Looks amazing- The gold really goes really well (and I am not usually into gold hardware!).

Those Orvilles are very nice guitars, and that one's a beauty for sure. Happy NGD!

Re: NGD: OBG

Still trying to figure out what to put in the bridge pickup. Went to 4 shops saturday and no one had a gold humbucker. Right now Im leaning towards something from Wolfetone, a Duncan Pearly Gates or maybe... just maybe a set of EMG 57/66s. Im really curious to try them but cant find any clips that arent downtuned chugging or shreddy stuff.

Really like the look of the top. I've always thought that was a major shortcoming of Les Pauls, even on the really expensive ones.

Re: NGD: OBG

Just pulled the trigger on a Wolfetone for the bridge. I think Im going to replace the pots, caps and switch since they are all import. Im sure its all in my head, but I don't like those little Japanese pots. The might be fine, they just look so cheap. Thinking about Koa pick up rings, but they are a little pricey. Any opinions on cream rings?

Re: NGD: OBG

nooooo, don't put cream rings on that guitar...yuck...koa pup rings would look super classy ...but if you don't do koa then stick with the black...I think the black rings go better with that guitar than cream rings would...just an opinion...

Re: NGD: OBG

I'd probably stick with black too... IDK, if cream would look all that good

Re: NGD: OBG

between you guys and the wife, black wins. I usually like to put the taller historic rings on and those dont seem to come in black.
