NGD - Palm Bay Cyclone
I'd been hunting for a Palm Bay for quite some time and had resigned myself to the fact I would probably be looking at one of their Tidalwave models. I missed a couple trading hands and then couldn't find a nice one for a while. I'd pretty much given up and bought an S5570 as a stopgap when I bumped into this Cyclone (their top of the range guitar) almost by chance and it had to come home with me (Mrs Jono is very understanding like that!)
It's apparently one of a run of six for the Japanese market and is an SD-X with the "horizontal" fade, although I think the middle orange had faded a lot on this one over the last 20 years giving it a more 2-tone colour.
I'm still hunting for a Cyclone SE-X (see what they did there) but this is a real blast from the past from when guitars held real mystery for me and one I've wanted for ages.
It's got a 55mm think body, (I think about 50mm of mahogany and 5mm of solid flame maple) a maple neck, luscious ebony board, mahogany scarfed on headstock with maple cap, Gotoh hardware and Dimarzio pickups.
It's also got the full dolphin and palm tree inlays which are the top of the line, "signature" Palm Bay inlays.
