NGD Proline PL2660!! 1 of 132 Per Jim D.

FINALLY, I found one of my bucket list guitars to buy. A 1986 PL2660PL. One owner, w/case and all case candy(best case candy Iv'e ever gotten to this point).
He still had the white sales hang tag $1089.00 (these were not cheap back in '86).
The edge trem is near perfect.Still has some of the paper on one of the cavity covers!!
I have a nice collection of 80's MIJ Ibanez guitars, RG550/770,sabre,540P, AR350PL a PL1770, both of the PL1880s ect to name a few and this guitar is the BEST playing, sounding guitar of the bunch, even better that my '87 RG550 w/maple board or my JS10th...
The pickups are so warm yet so tight with PERFECT mids and highs.
For the 1st time in my life I actually shed a tear when I bought a guitar.....
If you guys even get a chance to own one...buy it. Jack Secret can attest to these great guitars (I JUST missed buying his black one by about an hour).

Oh,I contacted Jim Donahue and asked about prod #s for these and the whole "Jackson guitars shut the line down due to copyright infringement" thing and here's what he said:

"First it was the PR models with the Pro-rocker then the PL models with the Edge,

PL2660 they made

in 1987 they only made 7 of them In January
In 1986 they made 132 total of the White ones. (jan,Feb,March,Sept and november)
in 1985 they did not make any of them.

It was not Jackson, Just it did not sell, I remember it well and we blew them out
Lee, thanks I never remember any Lawsuit unless it was so hush that I did not hear it, maybe a cease a Desist,
But really Sales were so bad at that time and until we released the Jem (That was because sales were so bad)"

Thanks
Jim

1 of 132.....I'm VERY lucky to find one, much less in this shape.

Here she is:

****The original owner had a small, square styrofoam on the bottom of the bar. Did the guitars with the edge trems come shipped with those on it back then?****

Arggh! Freakin' gas! I want one of those so bad... Played a PR1660 once but didn't care for the bolt-on, front routing, and Pro Rock'r. And you have both a maple and walnut 1880, life's not fair. It's almost criminal how minty looking it is, plus the case candy. You playing it Keef style ?

I still remember that pink one someone wanted $8000 for earlier in the year on eBay.

That's interesting info about the production numbers and the suppose Jackson lawsuit. As this model came in pink and black, there would have been some more, but I'd hazard a guess that they didn't make over 300-400 examples of this model then. Even that's probably pushing it.

Anyway, enjoy it, man \m/.

If I'm not mistaken the same guy just had it on there for $2100.....said he won't go any lower, he'll just keep it......I still think that's way too high.
I paid about $1000 for mine

The guy's a total c0ck tease.

That's the price I'd have expected you got yours at, given the condition and case candy. For one that's seen some use/mods, $700/800 is about right. I saw a nice pink one that was modded with EMGs on Atlanta Craigslist ages ago for $700.

This is why I hate living in freaking Australia .

I love that cutaway for upper fret access. The Alexi LTD and ESPs do that, too.
