NGD: RFR? RG550-R??

Hi guys, new to the site! Unfortunately, the site logged me out and deleted like 3 paragraphs worth of mah thoughts. Any how, I recently acquired an '87 RG550 in what I believe is RFR although, i'm not entirely sure. The best way I can describe it is a neon orange/pinkish color that I can't seem to photograph haha. It has a non-matching headstock and the fretboard is rosewood. I heard that a few RFR's with Rosewood fretboard were made for the Japanese market although idk. It's also in awesome shape for being almost 25 years old. It doesn't have any chips and hardly any play wear. Color's not faded at all as I believe it's lived in it's case most of it's life. It has the typical neck pocket crack on the left side and also has a tiny 1/2 inch crack on the back of the locking nut. It's freaking awesome though and I think I got a heck'uva deal I really would like some of you guys to shed some light on what i've got here! I'll post some pictures when I get over the 10 post limit

I'm guessing it might be an '88 RG550FA-R from the Japanese domestic market:

Re: NGD: RFR? RG550-R??

Like Penguin said, it's almost impossible to photograph lol. However, on my laptop if you angle the screen down a bit you can almost get the exact color? I had the flash on for the majority of these pics and it just kinda drowned out the color.

Re: NGD: RFR? RG550-R??

Ok, its gotta be an rg570 neck and pickups on an RFR body, thats the only explanation right?

Re: NGD: RFR? RG550-R??

who knows....... there have been SO many oddities come up lately that I've never seen before. It just proves the fact that Ibanez builds what they want when they want. Some make it into the print ad's, others don't.

well that paint is defnitely RFR, but its got a LO PRO instead of the edge, v7/v8 instead v1/v2, and the rosewood neck. It all screams 570 with an rfr body

Re: NGD: RFR? RG550-R??

Hahahahaha. You heard about that earth quake we got on the East coast right?? I really hope it's not a mutt Next string change i'll pull the neck for the million dollar question. However, I thought that all it would say is RG550-R?? I mean, in all reality someone could've just used an RG550r neck from an '87 Black model correct? Anyway to verify it's the original neck?? Also, Is it really just as simple as unbolting and rebolting? Thanks!!

Re: NGD: RFR? RG550-R??

it's an OE in it......look in the last (visible) pic, you can see the lockdown screws going through the body and out the back...........I can't read the pups, but I agree that they look like V7/V8..... those didn't come out til '93 which was LONG after RFR was gone......

like I said......who knows?? I agree that heel/pocket pics would be nicebut I don't think they'll tell us much as all 5xx series necks were stamped with "RG550" and RG550R"...even the 570's/560's as far as I know.
