NGD! RG 470

Snagged a 1999 RG 470 in New Penny copper this past Sat off the 'bay!

It has a few faint scratches, all of them in places you'd need to look close to see 'em. Two hairline cracks in the paint at the neck joint. Not a bad find for $230.

TRS is going bye-bye, stock pups as well, I took off the cosmo knurled metal knobs, stuck a pair of black/white numbered hat knobs from my old UV, and I'm really gonna have some fun with this one!

(the pics are from the seller, I'll post better ones real soon.)

Re: NGD! RG 470

Congratulations. The LO-TRS is actually a pretty good trem. It just gets a bad wrap due to it's name being shared with the Korean made LO-TRS II.

You can make the trem (and locking nut, tuners, etc) look almost new again (albeit chrome) by polishing them up with some metal polish. I used Autosol metal polish on a sad looking cosmo Edge Pro and it looks amazing now.

Do a search in the DIY section of my blog http://www.lonephantom.com and you'll see before and after shots.

Re: NGD! RG 470

It's just some cosmo finish worn off the lower 3 saddles, no biggie. All the other hardware is in excellent condition. Lo-TRS is good, as long as the knives aren't worn out. I had a TRS on a 2000 RG 7420, and it never seemed to return to proper tuning. I'll get a better look at it when I do a re-string & proper clean & polish.

Wow very nice like that copper penny finish alot.I have one just like it Japanese made with a Fred in the bridge and a paf joe in the neck and I kept the Lo-TRS whenever I let someone play it they want to keep it.It plays really really nice definitely a keeper very responsive and gets great harmonic response. Good luck with yours!

Re: NGD! RG 470

I think now I will keep the TRS, and just block it, or install a Tremel-No.

The back of the neck has an awesome wood grain pattern due to a knot right in the middle. It kinda looks like a waves in a pool radiating outward!

The metallic copper finish really sparkles under bright light!

Re: NGD! RG 470

Nice, I have the Exact same guitar, Its my #1, prefer the neck on this over the original wizard. But, I installed X2N, Pro track, and Air Norten (all green), Green knobs and switch tip, Gotoh Floyd (needed slight routing where the claw would be on a jem), Tremolo-no( mainly for string changes) green ibanez decal from best decals, and refinished in black and let my daughter draw on the body with a silver paint pen, and added a kill switch between the volume and tone knobs....So other than that its exactly the same....congrats and play the hell out of it.

Re: NGD! RG 470

Back of the neck, you can see the knot in the center. Doesn't affect tone, but makes a cool grain pattern!
