NGD RG1527

Found this in a local video game shop of all places. The owner of the shop got it in a trade from the original owner who either did this refinish or had it done. I think it looks pretty damned good and the pictures don't do it justice.

Re: NGD RG1527

Nice ! I hope to pick up a 7 string that way eventually (hopefully it will be at a reduced price of course ;P ).
That's how I got my Jem7DBK, someone stripped it and refinished it with a varnish to mimic a Root Beer.
I don't mind the finish job, and I saved a pile of cash since it didn't go for as much as an original-finish one.
Looks like a great find there, and if it looks good with the refinish too, all the better

Re: NGD RG1527

I think the finish gives it a real good a heavy vibe. IDK what pups these are in it though, when I go to give it a thorough set up, I'll pull them out and see if they have any markings on them, I think I like the neck pup, but may replace the bridge eventually. Gonna play it a good while before making any decisions. Love the neck and bridge for sure though. I was damned surprised to find this in a shop like that. Been sitting here figuring out Weeping China Doll haha.

Now that you mention it, it does look kind of like serpentine. That may be what I need to establish this axe's name! Thanks!

Re: NGD RG1527

Always love those RG1527's! I sure do miss mine.

Oh, and those are just stock Ibanez pickups. V77 in the bridge and V87 in the neck. I was in the same boat as you. Neck pickup was great, bridge pickup wasn't.

Re: NGD RG1527

Just realized I posted this in the wrong thread, guess this are is for 6-string prestiges only. Anyway, yeah I plan to swap out the pups. Debating between a Blaze, Crunch lab, or Deactivator for the bridge. I want a ton of crunch for the bridge so I think the Crunch Lab or Deactivator may be the best choice there. I find this neck pup to be pretty ok but I want something with more clarity and definition, but plenty of power (this one seems muddy). Not sure what neck pup would be best at all yet.
