NGD RG521 JB Genesis

This is the main event! Purchased from our own Rich Harris. What an amazing guitar-buying experience!
I've only been able to play it a little bit but I'm really digging the fixed bridge version of Super Wizard.

Considering those were due in March you were a very patient man! And your patience was greatly appreciated.

Re: NGD RG521 JB Genesis

We have our share of supply issues too, though we don't get stuff from overseas. (They are finally hanging the Chinese glass on that big Les Paul building in Hollywood Hard Rock though.... not us, the competitor that won it.)
I know a bunch of other guitar builders (that are building regular guitars, not giant guitar-shaped buildings) are having the same issues so NBD. It was worth the wait.

It's not bad. It's just logistically difficult to deal with China on such things. That building is going to be cool when it's done. It'll be easy to see on approach to Ft Lauderdale / Hollywood International.

Congrats! Insane that it took until July to get a guitar that was announced in January.

Yup, "Insane" that's a good way to put it. I'M Insane that I'm still waiting for my 550 that I ordered in January....(more like stupid!)

Probably going to get a Super Distortion bridge and a Humbucker From Hell in the neck. I just sold my Destroyer that had that combo in it and always thought it would be cool in an RG.

I remember when the 20th came out people were pissed it took until April for guitars to show up. This wasn't so bad. Kids, work, and other stuff kept me busy.
It's interesting that this reminds me the most of the old 1991 RG570. I'll have to check the specs again but this feels like the thinnest neck since the original Super Wizard but I think this is the same dimensions as the Super Wizard that came back right around the time of the RG20th if I remember right. The Premium Wizard on the RG921 is thicker of course but with this neck being so thin the 10's I'm using now on fixed bridge guitars feel huge somehow. Rich set up the action a tad lower than I'm used to, which is perfect on this guitar being an 80's style shredder, but it feels like half the overall thickness is strings. It's probably my brain adjusting to the neck the same way it does in the reverse on the Fireman dealing with the thickness. I was only able to play it a little bit today.
Otherwise, ignoring there's no middle pickup, no pickup rings, and it's a fixed bridge it reminds me a LOT of the old RG570.

They came in last month and pretty much everything is running about 3 months late, but it took me this long to get them checked in and thru the line to get this one out. As you're well aware I'm more of a fall chicken now, I don't move like I used to!

Man, to me you've been eternal 40's! Even back in urm... 2000ish when I ordered my JS1000BTB through you, you have always been in your 40's. Even today you are in your 40's

That wasn't a comment directed at you moving slow in your old age

June, July...still absurd that it took that long for then to get in your hands.

Re: NGD RG521 JB Genesis

My mind will always think my body is 40's but that's not the position my body takes. There are alot of positions my body no longer takes

They were slated for March, arrived in June, this is just typical today. You may say it's absurd, I'd say it's just the current situation they're in as a company and we're in as dealers, too many factors beyond their immediate control. It is what it is. No ETA can be taken as gospel and should only be used as guidelines or best case scenarios. Like the JIVA that was announced at the show they're be very late because it was rushed to show, but production scheduling would be at minimum 6-7 months later and then add in container and time expenditures beyond anybodies control. So even if it's shown at NAMM doesn't mean it should immediately be available, it means they want to show you what is coming when everybody [particularly dealers] is looking independent of when the guitars will actually be available for sale. Only those models confirmed so far in advance they have production slated in November, which means they'll have been approved and scheduled around March, have a chance of being available near show time.
