NGD: RG655

So I went to sam ash yesterday to buy some strings and did the usual quick glance around at guitars. I noticed a cool looking sea foam green Indonesian made jem. Felt ok in my hands. Then I saw a sweet looking rg prestige. Grabbed it and the thing felt good in my hands. Stout, rigid, tight resonance, so I plugged it into a marshall half stack and the guitar kicked ass. I played it for 30 min and was really impressed.

What really impressed me the most was how beautiful the red velvet single coil blended with both the tone zone and air norton. The pickups sound so damn clear.

Everything about this guitar is perfect. Very strong neck, excellent sounding body, no frills. Solid playing guitar.

Re: NGD: RG655

Right?! This guitar is RAW. I just had the seafoam Jem and I sold it, didn't even consider losing my 655. It just feels like a 'roided out 550 and I love it lol
Happy NGD my dude!

VERY nice Jet, congratulations man!!

These new prestige guitars (as I've said so many times) are pure performance and muscle. Your not throwing money into useless bling, bells, or whistles. Just some good old fashioned Japanese muscle!!!

Re: NGD: RG655

The RG1451 looks like that with the tight end bridge. Congrats on the find!

Re: NGD: RG655

It was a 2010-11 Prestige model, stock pups aren't great though

Re: NGD: RG655

Thanks guys.
After playing it for more days I can say that the guitar fits like a glove.
The neck is so damn comfortable. Its thinner than my dk1.
Bends are so easy. So glad I bought the guitar.

I am a huge Jackson USA fan. I have 4 of them. This was my first ibanez 6 string, my first Ibanez being an rg2228, which by the way is huge. So after really playing a proper 6 string Ibanez, I now have new respect for Ibanez. And I can say that Ibanez guitars are different animals than Jackson guitars. They both have their own special magic obviously, but Ibanez just has a different type of magic going on than Jackson guitars. I'm not saying Ibanez is better, I'm just saying Ibanez has a different approach to making guitars, which I like a lot. Both manufacturers have their own pedigree of engineering and each is very unique.

The point is the rg655 is a highly refined machine, engineered with the highest precision.

My dk1 and rg655, my best guitars so far.

Re: NGD: RG655

I know what you mean. I had a Kelly Standard and a Kelly KE3, and although both are not higher tiered level guitars, for both being still manufactured in Japan they had a feeling like somebody actually used their hands to craft parts of them and put them together. Like it was just you and the guitar with nothing in between, it was very nice. Right now though the only thing in my stable are Ibanez RG's because I just have this fixation with their construction and hardware at the moment. I'm like infatuated with the Edge bridge right now lol
