NGD - RG6CSD - strings question

Hi guys, I just won on the auction site this RG6CSD2 (the only pic I have from the vendor)

I use to have 9-46 strings on my 25.5" guitars, but on this one (27") which ones should I have to put on to have the same feeling/result ?

12-68 ? 13-70 ? 14-72 ?

thanks for your help

Re: NGD - RG6CSD - strings question

With Baritone scale guitars you usually can get away with slightly LIGHTER strings as they will have the same tension as your set on a 25.5". So if you play 9-46 on 25.5" first play 9-46 as the tension might increase to where you might like the set. However just note the differences in tension is maybe like 1lb or less per string but it helps a lot when you tune low.

Re: NGD - RG6CSD - strings question

are you tuned to standard E? those thick strings are meant to go really low... like dropped Bb or A standard to get the same [approximate] tension as 9-46 tuned to E

Re: NGD - RG6CSD - strings question

got it !

a very nice guitar, smooth to play !
the 27" scale is not the big difference I expected, and that's cool !

a nice looking, my first flat-finish - how can I clean it the best ?

it's with 10-46 strings for a classic E setting - no interrest for me
I've ordered .12-.68 strings, waiting for them, and will play BEADF#B

The neck PU seems to be swapped but a Seymour Duncan though
I'll check this when I'll replace the strings

It sounds very very nice
but the essential word, looking-playing-earing this axe is definitively : smooooth !

Re: NGD - RG6CSD - strings question

For a baritone I believe the standard baritone strings are 13's. I knwo D'addario do 2 baritone string sets.

Re: NGD - RG6CSD - strings question

ok, no answer, so I have another question

How rare is this model ?
I know it was only for the Japanese market, made in 2001.

anybody here to say how much were made ?
Infos on this guitar are as rare as the guitar itself !

Re: NGD - RG6CSD - strings question

just set it up with the elixir .12-.68 strings :

.68 is a big big one !

the others strings are now like a .10-.46 set on a 25.5" neck

sounds Rock with a lot of attack, you need to really hit the strings, no light picks here !

You know what ? I'm happy !

Re: NGD - RG6CSD - strings question

Hi,

Just noticed your post and thought I would chip in too!

I've got a red RG6-CSD2, [love it] and have it set up with Rotosound yellows 7-string set R10-7, using the heavier 6 strings 13 to 56 tuned B to B. I did have a 70 on there at the start and tuned it all to F standard [just above a bass] but chords were impossible as it was all sludgy so I took it back up to B.

To get the intonation right at B I use the second set of holes for attaching the saddles on the Lo-pro to get longer string length. I managed to get a really low action on it too as the neck is amazing [I take it it's a Prestige quality neck as I've never had a 'Nez so good, It even beats my early 90's JS1 slightly].

The only mod I carried out was to get a couple of Bare knuckle Warpigs into it as the JB and '59 weren't giving me what I wanted from it sound wise. They look so mad too:

If you really get into the baritones the MMM1 is really worth a try too. I got one after the RG6 for more beefy riff work and it is a really great guitar, a lot for the money. I've fitted mine out with bareknuckle painkillers and it gives me a fantastic clean tone on the neck and a great squealy bridge pick-up with plenty of thunk from the mahogany.

Needless to say I love my Barri's!

Dave
