Cool NGD - RGA prestige action

As I'm a new member to the club thought I'd show you my latest addition.

I hadn't bought a guitar in 10 years but I couldn't resist when I found an 'old' gem. Pics below:

Picked up this 2005 Ibby RGA321F. It's still is good condition, bit of wear and tear, but nothing too major. Still looks gorgeous and that flame maple cap!! They don't make them like they used to. No whammy bar though.

Itís different from other Ibanez models Iíve played/owned (RG1570, JS1200) The mahogany maple combo just creates these really sharp bright highs, a Tried and tested wood combo and It works. Iím digging the clean tones at present, letís just say they are not airy or bland! Especially with the switch at 4th position and it just brings a whole sonic variation to the pickups. Speaking of which The bridge pickup can get slightly muddy on the lower strings when pushing the gain but nothing thatís a deal breaker.

I have a feeling that the neck is slightly thicker too then the usual wizards but need to confirm, could be wrong.

The Gibraltar plus bridge is lovely. Probably the best fixed bridge Iíve used. Action is extremely low and very comfortable.

What I like about it is that itís different. Itís not your usual RG. If the RG550 is a T800 then this is the T1000 (lame Terminator reference).
Shame they discontinued these. It oozes quality. Would be amazing if they added something like a SynchroniZR trem to this model. Bet they would give those AZ models a run for their money.

Happy new guitar day!

I've always loved the rga's. One of my closest friends bought one from Rich at Ibanez Rules and had it delivered to Australia when they were new. They feel amazing to play. So different to a regular RG with the arch top.

I have the RG 321mh. Yes the necks are slightly thicker, & I feel more comfortable than the wizard on my 520qs with original wizard neck. I love those Gibraltar bridges as well. I think they're the best fixed bridge out there. Whenever I find one used I snag it to replace crappy trems.

Re: NGD - RGA prestige action

I have the Onyx Black finish of this RGA321F and it's crazy that it was discontinued. As you mention, this one is a beautiful guitar to play with the Gibraltar Plus bridge and I had mine new from 2008. For live use it keeps tune really well, even when I use the Pitch-Key for drop tuning.

The only downside also involves that bridge though. It seems I just cannot quite get the intonation perfect because the saddles will not go back far enough on one string and they stopped making the bridge very quickly. Also the chrome has worn off on the large stud bolt where my hand rests, but that is not a big deal and Ibanez managed to find some parts in the end.

Very handsome guitars. Surely perfect intonation of the thickest string is practically irrelevant since you don't play it up at the dusty end anyway?
I dare say you could modify that one saddle to get it back a bit further if it's making your OCD unbearable.
