NGD: RGD 3127 Content...

This baby finally arrived. Thanks to Rich for hooking up those frets!

Before even receiving it, I had already resolved to swap the Fusion Edge pickups with some other DiMarzios I have here, but I have to be honest... the Fusions are starting to grow on me. They may end up staying after all. Anyhow, onto the pics...

The most important thing is grinding out the nut mounting screw holes and using the X23 screws, and radius matching the bridge to the frets. but, those are fret ends I'd be happy playing on

Awesome. To me, from the specs and the look, this is for sure one of the best guitars Ibanez has ever produced.

Happy NGD!

Very nice. Fret ends look like J-Custom quality. Did you have to shim, the saddles on the bridge to match neck radius?

Every 7 bridge and nut are far too flat for the fret radius. The 6's have gotten close but the 7's still need mold work.

Out of curiosity, do you sell the saddle shims? I have 4 other Ibanez 7’s that could seriously use some radius-matching. I can’t do anything about the damn nut being too flat, but I can help the bridge if I can get my hands on some shims.

Or, will the generic Floyd Rose shims work?

Generic shims work but you're not matching a radius with one thickness shim, although you may get closer.

I'm in need of having more made, and adding a couple thinner to the mix. I won't even get a chance until hell is over.

I hate new years!!

Nice shot of the fretwork! Makes me wanna get a new guitar just to get it from Rich.

Just looking for a good excuse really and I'm almost there. I used to have a 7 string and liked it, but have kind of started over on my playing trying to correct some bad habits and learn properly so swapping between a 6 and a 7 may not be beneficial to my practice right now. If they offered an RG 6 string in that same color scheme I'd be all over it.

How's the flat pearl white in person?

I may do the same. Hadn’t really considered this, but there’s a metal shop near me that’s done some pretty good work for me in the past. This would probably be really simple for them.

Economy of scale is the only way I've found to make sense, I order a thousand + at a time.

Outside of the file work on the ends, I had to move to mechanical polishing because of a couple injuries. I've resisted all these years but just couldn't anymore. But, I do it in 4 steps instead of 2 at half the time of each to keep the heat from becoming a problem.

So you get these polished mirrors you can't touch with a string or you'll see the marks anywhere it touches. Steel always beats nickel, it's not a fair fight.
