another none Ibanez for me this year.
This is Rick Hanes guitar , an original Indonesia brand, one of those factory who uses CNC and PLEK machine.
the model name is Shredguy. Basically a super strat with modification here and there.
My shredguy is semi-custom order, it comes with reversed headstock, dimarzio Evo-2 humbucker in bridge position, direct mounted, one vol push-pull pot only, and of course...solid black finish.
the standard production shredguy model comes with normal headstock, twin duncan designed humbuckers, one 5-way switch, one vol, one tone...very standard.
other than that, the spec is the same with standard model :
mahogany ( chambered) with maple top.
5 pcs maple-wenge neck with rosewood 14" radius.
floyd special ( 1000 model) trem, and grover tuners.
take a look at this model :
sexy curved :
the guitar is well built quality, very solid.
set up from factory is silly low ( 1.6mm) slight buzz due to my picking, I rise up a little bit, and the buzz is gone, the action is now like 1.8mm , no buzz.
it's pretty heavy, even has chambered body, neck feels fat ( for those who used to super wizard/ original wizard be carefull ). this neck is fat, round and meaty.
but one thing I notice that the access to higher frets is so easy, therefore I found they designed this guitar to have the neck meets the body at fret #20.
normally othere guitars make it at fret # 19. so the access to fret 24 is so easy.
other thing to notice is the neck ( top of the fretboard) is 9mm high against the body surface.
I guess with the combination of the high neck and chambered body, accoustically it rings out loud and clear.
this guitar has a lot of potential.
even the price is not cheap ( for Indo products), but it worth.
don't expect it to have 400-500 bucks price tag on the street, as I paid for my semi-custom around 700.
with upgradeable option, such as original floyd, gotoh tuners, and so on... the price can hike up to 1400-1500 range.
the range of semi-custom order you can choose such as : fretboard ( maple/ rosewood) , headstock ( normal/ reverse), pickup configuration, pickup rings or direct mounted, electronics : vol, tone and switches, and colors.
I'd guess you can choose the type of fretwire too, but I didn't ask.
Also, I just asked the posibility to have different wood, and they said it's possible.
I don't want to sound like being adv here, but if you want to know more, just googling it : rick hanes.
