First off, my apologies again to fellow members Vibrator and Vaibanez. I was all set to buy guitars from both of you at different times and on both occasions was shot down by my wife.
Anyway, in the months following I was still plagued with major GAS and felt I had to buy something. Risking life and limb I decided on an RGT. I always wanted a neck-through and prefer a fixed bridge. The RGT42FX, which coincidentally I almost bought back in 2007/08 (before I got my SZ) when it was sold in regular boring BLACK, had the right combo of fixed bridge, H-H, neck-thru and at a reasonable price.
The one I bought is a 2009 MII in MSB (Mystic Sea Green Burst). Not only was this particular model never offered in Canada at all, I also understand it is now discontinued. A shame really. I really lucked out in finding one. Not only did I get it new fresh out of the box, but I got it at a clearance blowout price as well.
The finish is just gorgeous and my pictures do not do it justice. When you look at it from certain angles the quilted maple takes on an almost 3D quality.
Here are a few shots I snapped:
Sorry for the quality of the photos. I plan to redo them with a better camera and better lighting when I get a chance.
This guitar is only my third Ibanez, and my first neck-through, but so far I'm very impressed with its quality and playability. Despite it being Indonesian made it seems no less a quality guitar than my MIK SZ.
My wife is pissed of course, but she'll eventually get over it. If not I guess I'll be joining many of you in group marriage counselling (due to our GAS inflictions).
