I've been meaning to get myself a Tele for quite sometime and a couple of months ago i found out about White Whale Guitars https://whitewhaleguitars.com
, they're a small company here in México led by luthier Alejandro Torres, they make custom hand made guitars at great prices, so i decided to place an order for a T-Style build, the specs are:
-Superior alder body
-Rock maple neck
-C shape neck profile
-12" radius fretboard
-Wilkinson compensated bridge
-Kluson locking tuners
-Porter T90(set) pick ups
-Sonic blue finish
I've spend the weekend playing it and so far it has been great, the neck is quite chunky but comfortable, and the 12" radius fretboard allow for easy bends while still feeling "vintage", the T90 pick ups are actually P90s in a tele style housing, and i've been digging them so far, they still have that tele "twang" but a little more "full" sounding with more mids, on most Teles i rarely play anything but the bridge pick up but i'm really liking the neck pick up here, and i actually found myself playing in the middle position for quite some time too.
If i had to say something bad about it the fretwork is decent but not mind-blowing and i'd have appreciated if they offered a SS option, the fretboard was a little dry and i'm not completely sold on the neck finish, they say it's tru-oil but i found it a little bit too sticky for my tastes, not deal breakers by any means as in general i'm pretty happy with it, this was not intended to be my main guitar, just another option for when i'm looking for that Tele tone and so far it has been great at that.
