NGDT (Tomorrow) RG3XX LB 565

I have been looking at these since they came out but could not justify buying one since they were $600+ new but for a Dimarzio equipped guitar, Zero trem WITH ZPS for less than $400, I could not pass it up. An Air Norton S and a Deactivator?? I cannot wait to hear how this thing sounds!!!

Pic of mine coming tomorrow (thats the nice thing about living 2 hours from S****water)

I like those too...I was looking at that exact guitar on Rich's site, and was close to pulling the trigger, but then I found another maple neck Ibanez local (2570mz ngd thread)... If you are able to get that RG for less than $400 then that seems like way too good a deal to pass up!!! looking forward to your pics and review =)

Looks like you got a steal man Congrats!!! Very interested in how it plays... If I hadn't just spent a grand on new drum shells for my son's xmas present I'd snag one of those candy apple red ones...

So the 3XXVs are better than the 1XXVs?

They aren't premium spec, but I wouldn't turn them down based on that. They come with DiMarzios (not OEM ones), and are a very unique (for a Ibanez) H-S setup and colour coded dots on the fretboard.

Re: NGDT (Tomorrow) RG3XX LB 565

Well, I got the RG3XX LB today. I start this way because I am having some QC issues with it upon inspection and play. Am I being picky for what was a $700 guitar?

First:

The Good. With the right setup, it would be a good player, it is way too high in the upper regions right now to be as fast as my 550 but it COULD be awesome.

It sounds incredible on my fav POD HD patches. It really sings, the Norton Single is great in that position. The Deactivator is bright with maple but could be toned down through the POD I would imagine.

Trem- I really like the feel of the Zero2 I like that you can change the tightness of the feel with the ZPS unit too. The fine tuners are a bit stiff but would probably break in and loosen.

Hardware: Good stuff, looks solid.

Looks: It looks incredible with the S-H, LB, matching dots and headstock.

Second: The Bad.

Build quality. The neck and frets feel unfinished, scratchy on the frets and neck when bending, unfinished feel on the neck sides all the way down the bass side which looks to be due to a rough patch of wood that the neck was made of. You can see a definite line of grain. There is still glue around the 19th fret on the treble side of the neck, no more sanding gets done after the frets are installed?

Body issues. There is a spot of waviness in the body and paint on the backside above the trem. Small cluster of scratches on back side next to some black goo by the jack cover. Scuff by the 5way switch that looks to have not been finished out.

I think some of you know where this is going already but I think I might send it back, I just cant deal with the feel issues. If it doesn't feel right, I wont play it and dont want it.

Here are some pics of the issues and guitar.

Re: NGDT (Tomorrow) RG3XX LB 565

Awww man that really sucks...aside from the QC issues it looks awesome from a distance

The side of the neck looks like a$$ and should have never left the factory. I don't care what price point it's at, that's not a passable neck as is...

The fretboard looks really thick and the slots are cut way too deep also... QC looks like something I'd expect from a $99 Squire TBH... No doubt I'd send it back if a brand new guitar showed up at my door like that...

Re: NGDT (Tomorrow) RG3XX LB 565

Bummer about those issues
Like Swirl said the fret slots are a bummer way too deep but really even with that if you don't mind a little extra work I bet that thing could be made to play great without too awful much time. Especially at the price you got it might be worth it

So are you keeping the RG550 now? I can barely keep up with the guitars you have coming and going

Re: NGDT (Tomorrow) RG3XX LB 565

This sucks because my RG350EXZ was actually in alot better condition when I got it than this 3xxv is. Not a single problem with it. Maybe they got lazy with these?

LOL Yeah, the RG550 is staying. Maybe the 650 too. It's time for the Herc to go though.
