Well, I got the RG3XX LB today. I start this way because I am having some QC issues with it upon inspection and play. Am I being picky for what was a $700 guitar?
The Good. With the right setup, it would be a good player, it is way too high in the upper regions right now to be as fast as my 550 but it COULD be awesome.
It sounds incredible on my fav POD HD patches. It really sings, the Norton Single is great in that position. The Deactivator is bright with maple but could be toned down through the POD I would imagine.
Trem- I really like the feel of the Zero2 I like that you can change the tightness of the feel with the ZPS unit too. The fine tuners are a bit stiff but would probably break in and loosen.
Hardware: Good stuff, looks solid.
Looks: It looks incredible with the S-H, LB, matching dots and headstock.
Second: The Bad.
Build quality. The neck and frets feel unfinished, scratchy on the frets and neck when bending, unfinished feel on the neck sides all the way down the bass side which looks to be due to a rough patch of wood that the neck was made of. You can see a definite line of grain. There is still glue around the 19th fret on the treble side of the neck, no more sanding gets done after the frets are installed?
Body issues. There is a spot of waviness in the body and paint on the backside above the trem. Small cluster of scratches on back side next to some black goo by the jack cover. Scuff by the 5way switch that looks to have not been finished out.
I think some of you know where this is going already but I think I might send it back, I just cant deal with the feel issues. If it doesn't feel right, I wont play it and dont want it.
Here are some pics of the issues and guitar.
