NGDx2: Goodbye Ibanez, Hello Carvin

Amazing I went so long without any Carvins. Beyond amazing. These two to start and three being customized by Carvin. You think if Ibanez had a public custom shop they'd make an custom RG for less than 4 grand? Probably not.

So here are my two Carvins to start!

CS6 Custom - mmmm flamed maple top, mahogany back, ebony, abalone inlays...plays like butter

and an AE85 acoustic electric...ebony and abaloneeee live together on a perfect fingerboard....ee.

And so, having defeated the monster, exit our hero stage right to a guitar collection of about 25 guitars (down from 45 after I sell all them Ibanezez...Ibanezii...Ibanezzzzawholebunchofthem) where no company dominates...just in harmonial peace.

Carvin does make beautiful guitars and those are two fine examples of that. Really like the CS6 really nice finish. Good luck with both of them.

I love the Carvin stuff. The CT6's really fluff my pillows! Maybe one of these days... Congrats on the new stuff!

So what did the AE85 run you if I may ask?
I would call that more of a hybrid than an acoustic electric, similar to Taylors T5 in functionality, not so much in looks though.

What kind of a feel does it have, more acoustic or electric?

Got it for 750 off ebay

Feels like an electric, sounds like an acoustic but you can crank up the distortion and it handles fine.

Re: NGDx2: Goodbye Ibanez, Hello Carvin

I've been looking to buy a nice, used Carvin USA as well...

I heard their necks are a little bit thick though? I'm looking for something in between RG Prestige neck and Gibson SG...

With the prestige being on the thin side, and the SG being on the thick side...

Happy NGD!

Re: NGDx2: Goodbye Ibanez, Hello Carvin

oh jack.. carvin are very well made guitars. since 86 i would get the annual catalog and just drool over those guitars. like the DC135 with reverse headstock.. and their reverse flying v with reverse headstock.. I see they brought back the V's back.. im gonna get one. those necks are unreal.. ultra straight. if only they would do crazy paint jobs! enjoy your Carvins.. also they make fine PA equipment!
