noob needs advice on 1st Jem purchase

Hi,

I'm wanting to buy a Jem/Prestige type guitar.

Budget could go to around 1250

Some options are:

Basic 555 JJr

7ov Seafoam/ 7ov premium

2nd hand Jem7vwh

new RG prestige

Please advise

Thanks

Re: noob needs advice on 1st Jem purchase

If you like jem's...for that money look around for a JEM505 as they are made in japan...the down side id they dont have the vine inlay nor do they have dimarzios. Up side you can put the pick ups of choice and you will always know it is made in japan. 555jr dont seem to hold there value. Which make me think if in the long run how many of the non japanese like the seafoams (even knoe there good guitars) will hold value ?
When I got my 505 i could hav got the seafoam but the choice between japan verse non japan messed with my head..but thats just me....lol

Re: noob needs advice on 1st Jem purchase

how does the top quality RG prestige compare with the 7v wh?

I'm wanting the top quality trem, pickups and neck

do they both have those?

the RG is purple though!

If you want a JEM on lower priced end, look at the DBK and the VWH, both used.

Re: noob needs advice on 1st Jem purchase

jem7vwh used is the best options...it will holds the value in the long run...good quality and can sell back at the same price....rg prestige is good quality too but the resale value is very low price...buy used jem7vwh trust me you wont regret....if you want cheaper japan made rg then buy the used one at half the price of your budget

Hear Sebastian's wise advice. You will never regret about that ;-) (That's what I did years ago and now I have 5 Jems and 1 UV).

Go for the 7v, or go for the 70v and get it properly setup, theyre both awesome axes, stay away from the jem jr's, they dont hold there value and theyre pretty much a indo rg anyway.

Don't get a JEM70VSF for your first JEM.
Get the full blown real deal!
