not so NGD, RGRT47DX

Ok, got this like 2 months ago, I must replaced the high E saddle because the original one has failed.

2001 Korean RGRT47DX for Japanese market only.
comes with Infinity pickups, and Lo TRS II tremolo, later they switched it to the EDGE PRO II.
Has titanium reinforce neck, basswood wing body, sandwich maple neck.
and of course Wizard II neck type.

Overall performance is OK, Infinity pickups definitely is not a keeper, lack of character.
Neck is typical WII, fat and rounder.
One thing good about this, it does sound loud ( ring it unplugged).

enjoy the pics :

Would be nice with a high end trem and mahogany wings! Then i would refinish the back of the neck as natural/oil finish and install my favourite pickup duo, swap the electronics, install pickguard without the single coil and done. This is very far from it!
Looks alright anyway!

I think it's pretty cool. Love the colour.

Love the color, definite amazing possibilities as far as color schemes go with that and you could always have the neck sanded bare and finish it with a burst effect that they've done on some of their prestige and J.customs...Just an idea, that's what I see in my head...

i don't know man.. I don't even think to change the pickups to dimarzio/duncan on this one.
I won't be keeping it for long, I guess...
Just out of curiosity I bought this one, I just want to feel the korean neckthru RG, and well... I'm not impressed.

Dude.... don't write this guitar off yet. I think these RGT's (42/47) are THE SINGLE MOST underrated RG's Ibanez has made. I SERIOUSLY miss my RGT42. I'd almost trade my RGT3120 for another one.....almost.

The ONLY problem's with these guitars is the trem's. The TRSII is bad... I know. The EPII was worse. With a used Edge/Lo-Pro and a pickup upgrade (used of course) these guitars make SERIOUS shredders for very little $$. Since it's not a trans-top finish, I'd route it for an Edge and rattle can paint it.

I tend to compare my guitars by playing it unplugged.
If it rings nicely, and sounds loud, it would turn out great.
This one has it... I have a feeling that with right dimarzios/ duncans, it would become a monster.
But... still I can't see its future in my collection LOL..
you know.. you feel right when playing with WII neck, but when you switch to W neck, you totally forget how great was the WII neck..
it happens to me.. so no future for the guitar with WII neck.
