So, I put a decent bid on this 'UCGR "Grim Reaper" last week. I bid $600 to start off. Then all of a sudden I get an e-mail that tells me my bid had been cancelled. I looked at the sale and it was ended early, supposedly to a local sale.

Now it's been re-listed by the same seller........[FONT=Arial, Verdana]350591288441

I'm sure these a-holes cancelled my bid right before the end of the auction, then cancelled the auction and re-listed to get a higher price than my honest AND LEGAL bid!!!!!

I now own both, and for the Money I would take the USAC at that price, now!
Jems are everywere I dont see these very often, especially the reaper!
I would never sell my "The Angles Depart", one of the best playing guitars in my fleet, out of the three jems I have, My USAC plays/feels better than Two of them.

Well, there's some new light on this subject.

One of our own members won the first auction and has the guitar in his possession!!

Now the question is.....why is it listed again if they don't have it???

I know what you mean about the UCGR's...I have my screaming eagle....by far the best guitar in my house. If I didn't have that, I wouldn't be wanting a JEM first..........but since I do have it..........IT'S JEM TIME!!!!!!

A lot of people do really shady things with eBay listings. I'm actually not sure how people are able to cancel auctions that have bids on them that are above their reserve price?

People basically use eBay for free advertising, then sell offline to avoid the fees.

It didn't used to be that way.......if a bid was over the reserve, the sale was locked in. An auction couldn't be ended if there were ANY bids over the reserve.

The e-mail I got from ebay said my bid was cancelled. If I wanted to know the reason why, I had to check the bid history of the auction. Since the auction was cancelled, there was no bid history to check. Another funny thing is that there's no history of my bid in "My Ebay"..........go figure??

I had that happen once, too. Couldn't find my bid either.

Basically, all they have to do is say that you contacted them and asked them to cancel your bid. It also says you can cancel bids when you end an auction early. Here's what it says about that:

As far as the reasons you can use:

So basically, as long as there are more than 12 hours left on your auction, you're free to end it and cancel all bids with no restrictions. The "reasons" are pretty damn vague.

So basically, for $0.50 I can list my guitar on eBay and then entertain any offline offers I want, then end the listing with no restrictions. Pretty stupid.

This. Once you submit the auction, it should be a contract to sell. Something being incorrect is not an excuse. You can edit an auction.

I always thought it was like that but this has happened to me a couple of times now, so annoying!
