OFR

So I have been looking around for a good price to get a Original Floyd Rose Trem & Nut, which seems to be about $180+ shipping, however I just notices on several Online Music sites, the Floyd Rose Original Series DSOT-3 Electric Guitar selling for $149 - no tax or shipping!!!!!!!!

However the nut size is a bit different listed at 1.65" which is a bit bigger than 1 5/8....

So you think its a good deal?

Re: OFR

That isn't an original floyd. That is the speedloader floyd, which uses special strings, etc. You can't just throw that on another guitar without modifications.

Re: OFR

It's definitely a good deal. I'd snatch one up while they're still that cheap.

No, you can't use the Floyd on anything else though.

Get a PING Floyd, instead.

Ummm they have it listed as a Original Floyd Rose not a Speed Loader.

Yes, I have been looking for that also, only found one place so far that carries it (PING Floyd), but they have not gotten back to me if its a long block or short block.

Does any one know any other dealers of the Ping Floyd Rose other than Ax ??

Re: OFR

Well, it's built in China, so I was assuming it would be a cheaper version of the "original" Floyd, and that's pretty much what this says:

http://www.guitarworld.com/article/f..._series_dsot_3

But, it does qualify it saying it was built to OFR hardness standards:

"While this is an import version of the much-idolized original bridge, it is built to the same hardness standards and functions with the same feel and precision of the original."

For $150, I'd say it might be worth a shot (well, it's a bit ugly for me - the worst part is that because of the way the pickguard is you can't even put a regular Strat guard on it and get rid of the stupid one that's on there).

It's a long block. I own one, and it's awesome. Exactly the same as an OFR, except it's brass block and arm bushing are brass.

Don't worry, Mitchel at Axcessories is a great guy. I don't think anybody other than Axcessories carries the PING though.

It is built overseas, but it's the only Licensed Floyd that carries the Floyd Rose logo on it's base plate, so it's definitely good. And Floyd oversees the PING's production 100%.

Trust me, it's a great bridge. I replaced my BC Rich's single locking with a PING, and it's just awesome.

I was looking for the Short Block since the trem will be resessed.

I just looked at mine, and I think I was mistaken. I think it is a short block.

You could always buy one of these, though. Same price as the Speedloader equipped FR guitars, but it comes with an OFR.

BTW, that's Musician's Friend.

Re: OFR

I think the short block is a 34 for OFR, the 37 is a long block based on what I have looked up so far.

Ops that was what I was speaking about the DSOT-2, having the OFR. However I would then have to assume that it had the Short Block or I would be in the same boat again.

Re: OFR

My bad. You said you were looking at one of the $149 Floyd guitars. Those use the speedloader bridge. The DSOT-3 doesn't, but that's $299. You might still need to be careful, as you mention, with the block and such. I'd personally just keep my eye on the ee****yy for a used one.

Re: OFR

MF is selling the DSOT-3 Electric Guitar for $149 in Silver only. All other colors $299. I think I know what color you will be getting....
