This one's for me.

This one's for me. A quilted mahogany top over an ash back. It's ready for binding and finishing now and it should be ready for me to play in time for the NAMM show.

I've been playing all swamp ash for most of the last couple years and most of the guitars we build have a swamp ash back. I'm obviously a great fan. I find it very clear an articulate with a very well defined top end. The top on this one is a piece of quilted mahogany and that should smooth it out a bit, but ash seem to dominate any wood we pair it with.

I so envy you and your ability to think up a design that you want, then just go ahead and do it. That's insane. Very beautiful woods. I'm sure she'll be top notch! Hey, Jim, have you ever done any tops with exotic burls? Could be sexy...

I haven't, but I was looking at a piece of maple burl just yesterday that someone was putting on a bass. It was amazing.
