The overall quality of Ibanez Guitars
So about a year ago (maybe a little less), a friend of mine purchased a new RG652KKB from Rich at my recommendation. I've owned my RG3250DY (I call her Desi) for a few years now, and it's my only electric at the moment (That will soon change. I'll post about that later.) After he received the guitar, he brought it over for me to check out. We traded back and forth for about an hour, using my amp because his didn't sound so great with an Ibanez (Fender Hot Rod Deluxe. Incidentally, I sold mine after getting my RG because they didn't mate well. You live and learn.).
Here's something I noticed:
The guitar itself was expertly set up (Rich does a good job of that.) It played incredibly well, and was about the same cost as mine (bought on clearance, but still about the same list.) The guitar didn't feel .... right. It just felt slightly "cheaper," for lack of a better term. I'm not trying to knock it, it's still an amazing guitar, and actually a lot prettier than mine.
I was thinking to myself, "Am I really this jealous of his guitar?" But I really do feel like the guitar isn't built to the same quality that mine is. Did they change factories in the past few years? Am I just crazy jealous that his guitar was prettier than mine? What do you think?
Let me again stress I'm not knocking the guitar. If I had never owned an Ibanez, I would still have been blown away by the quality; fortunately for me, I have my Desi, and I'm not letting her go!
