High output =/= good tone. It just pushes the amp harder, for more distortion, and trust me, your amp already has enough distortion.

Agreed, you need a tight pickup, not necessarily a high output pickup.

Depending on your amp, I'd say the DiMarzio FRED usually has enough output in conjunction with a modern amp and is a very tight sounding pickup that won't turn to sludge (I go as low as drop C with that pickup).

If you do want higher output, I love the Evolution bridge pickup (many prefer the Evo 2, but I don't think it has quite the same bite) or the D-Activator.

Petrucci's new "Crunch Lab" bridge pickup is getting a lot of positive feedback from players at the moment as well.

Re: passive high output pickups for rgr320ex.

I just put a Super 3 in my RG2570, which is basswood. It sounds really nice to my ears, exceptional, actually. I also have one in my RGA321, and it sounds equally as good.

But, I only use standard tuning. Through a Diezel or a Rectifier, it has a lot of tone. Its treble isn't too harsh, dark like Dimarzio describes it. The lows are nice and clear.

Overall, it sounds very full.

There is nothing wrong with high output pickups.

The X2N is the highest output pickup that Dimarzio makes. I have one in an RG right now. It sounds pretty awesome.

Re: passive high output pickups for rgr320ex.

Does anyone know about bareknuckle pickups here? I mean, dimaezio is a pretty mainstream company I jus got my bareknuckle painkiler bridge and it's high output yet etremlly articulate. I can play all the strings I hear every one. Take a loom in their forums for recommendation because the painkler is bright and for mahogany and darker guitars. Best of luck to you.

I would say no to the invader...used one in the bridge of my rg , found it to be very dark and a feedback machine...weird tone...just my 2 cents
