Petrucci New JPX - RG Inspired Body??

Petrucci maybe misses the old Ibanez days and a has shaped his new sig model a little bit towards the RG than the original JP6. Even has a 5 way switch not on his other models.
The Petrucci models are fine guitars though.

Just needs an Ibanez headstock and it would be one of the sexiest guitars around lol

Yep. Looks very RGD-ish to me, as well. Cool guitar, though. I like the dark look it has.

I think the BFR shape was better, by making the body a little larger on this one, I think they've lost some of the balance

I just saw the pics in the music man site and the color is STUNNING! I wonder if there's gonna be a 7-string model...

The original JP EBMM is sexy to just hold in your arms, a lot like the JS body shape. And the few of them I saw GC were gorgeous.

I can't imagine thinking the RG is a better shape to play than the JPs, but maybe all those freaking muscles change the angle of his arms?

The body shape has changed quite a bit from the JP6. The contour where your right forearm rests, is now just like the RG. The JP6 has a comfortable contour, but does look unusual. The bridge is not like a typical Ibanez trem. It doesn't fully dive. I wonder if Petrucci will be thinking of getting Ernie Ball to custom build one with a Floyd for his own private use.

That looks f-ing awesome...subtle difference from the JP6, but enough to make the "tone" of its looks completely different. That was the only thing I never liked about my JP6; it sounded and played great, but I just never cared for the look or how small it was. This looks killer. Still not a huge fan of Ernie Ball's headstock, but I guess that's because I am a pointy headstock guy at heart.

I really doubt he will get a Floyd on one. If he wanted one, the JP6 would have had one in the first place, rather than the Music Man trem. JP isnt really a big trem user anyway so I dont see any problem with it. They are meant to be almost as good as a Floyd in terms of tuning stability. And the BFRs all have the same forearm contour, like this one. The regular JP6 does have a strange looking carve though. I really like the JPX, but I dont think its RG inspired, its just got thinner horns and a slightly different body to make it look more symmetrical.

No. Its dont see how people can say that its RG/RGD inspired. Its a slightly tweaked JP6 which John has been using for 10 years, with narrower horns and a more symmetrical, chambered body. If anything, the RGD is JP6 inspired, not the other way around.
