PGM 301 vs. PGM 500

Hi guys,

This is my first post here, so please be gentle.
I have always dreamed of having a PGM and have found a guys selling two!!
A PGM 301 from 2008 and a PGM 500 from 1996 (IIRC). Other than the obvious differences (pick ups and fingerboard) are there any other important things I might be overlooking? Pro/cons of each model? Also, any idea what would be a fair price for a well kept PGM 301/PGM? I would like to make this guy a reasonable offer for one of the two but I am totally clueless in terms of second hand value of the PGM series.

Thanks in advance for your help!

Re: PGM 301 vs. PGM 500

I've got both in A++ condition, beautiful guitars. The 301 is overall much brighter than the 500. I'm sure it's a combination of maple vs. rosewood, pickups, and maybe age. They both sound great - but I think the 500 is the cooler guitar overall.

I just brought it over from Japan - I'll do a ngd soon. I haven't had time with all the NAMM & afterNAMM running around.

Thanks a lot Khass! Much appreciated. The seller has gone MIA. I have written to him asking for pictures of the guitars but he hasn't replied to any of my emails. Maybe it was all a scam and I am better off not knowing back from him. Who knows? It was way too good to be true. One guy selling two PGMs!! Massive disappointment. Gotta keep searching for one.
