PGM's and their magical gooey powers

when I started my jem/RG fetish a short while ago I laughed at the thought of ever owning anything remotely as cheesily ugly as the PGMs. i mean painted F-Holes? oh, painted bright pink F-holes? thats BETTER! ahhhhh!

so now im trying to figure out exactly why im willing to sever one of my own toes for a PGM100. or a PGM300. or a PGM10th. I played a beat to hell PGM100 a long ways back (think it was a 100 anyway) and it was truely a gorgeous playing axe. but nothing to write home about and it wasnt at all better playing than my RGs. and i cant for the life of me explain thier magnetism! even the PGM30 with its stammed tremloey goodness calls to me from the pages of the 2002 catalog :X

what the hell voodoo curse has ibanez put on the PGMs?

Neat graphics, reverse headstock, relative rarity, that killer maple neck on the PGM300. Its look is such a throwback to the 80's, which is part of the appeal to me... just flying in the face of the 'trendy' look.

The PGM300 is such a great, crunchy, bright, rock guitar. Neck pickup position sounds really glassy and clear. And while the neck is very thin, it plays effortlessly.

Ahhh, those F-holes. They do have a voodoo all their own. I have been forcing myself to play the Jem and RGT more because I keep wearing out the strings on the PGM so quickly! The Jem and RGT are totally different and awesome sounding guitars, but the PGM300 is definately my fave.

There definately is some magic about them...

I own a lot of Ibanez stuff, but my PGM500 will always be the best playing guitar I own. The neck is just perfect for me, and the reverse headstock really makes a difference.

I must've been left out...mine has a normal headstock... It's Jewel Blue with pink f-holes and pickups. Matching headstock with pink logo, but normal headstock...

Nah...I gave it to my girlfriend. She likes that guitar. Obviously if she goes, the guitar stays...lol. I had two of them, kept one, and sold the other to Squid Music about a year ago. You live in the area, so you may have seen it. It was auto'd on the back plate with Paul's name and a 128th note...lol

You should call Squid (in Stanton) and see if it's still there. It sat on the wall there for about 8 months. I haven't been in there since...so it may. It was flawless, and lived in it's case the entire time I owned it. I got it in '97 or '98 when I worked at Guitar Center and some guy brought it in used...
