Re: Picked up another RG550 this week
After owning it for a couple of weeks I thought I should report back.
Lovely sounding guitar! Very light weight, noticeably lighter than my RG/JEM hybrid. Fret work is still great and the Edge returns to pitch perfectly. In fact once it bedded in the new strings I haven't had to do much with tuning at all.
The bridge pickups has plenty of bite and is not at all shrill which is great.
I think I may rewire it to position 2 & 4 split on the hum buckers. Just will need to get a new neck pickup and probably a decent 5 way switch as the old Ibby one is looking like it will go one day.
Really liking the Edge and once I got over its shape (I'm so used to Lo Pro) I found is sounds great and feels good. Got some plumbers tape to keep the arm in place as usual, so all is good.
I do have a brass block on my Lo Pro, just not sure if I will bother on this one as it sounds fine as it is to be honest.
Only thing I think I will change as I said will be the wiring, just as I like more than just using the bridge pickup with guitars. Though I am guilty of staying on the bridge more often than not.
I will say it again.
