I recently got a 1987 RG550 that I want to make a couple of minor changes to, just to kind of make it mine, so to speak. The guitar has a "mirror" pickguard on it that has seen better days. I ordered one from Greasy Groove, and while taking it out of the package, it broke. My fault. I ordered another, and it arrived broken. Not my fault. But...I kind of help up the one I broke next to the guitar, and it actually looks like it wouldn't fit anyway. The holes for the tone and volume don't look like they'd line up correctly.
I ordered the RG pickguard, but while looking at pictures on their website, it looks like a pickguard for a JEM might be a better fit as far as those particular holes go. Does anyone have any experience with Greasy Groove pickguards? Would I be way off if I went with the JEM pickguard? I'm thinking I may be better off with Pickguard Paradise since they appear to be more Ibanez specific.
Any suggestions or opinions are greatly appreciated.
