Please help

Hi
Im buying a new guitar for my son for christmas and im slightly confused with all the model numbers. I have seen an RG3270M and an RG2550E-GK.
Is the 3270 considered a higher spec than the 2550?
I cant really find a lot of personal reviews of the 3270, maybe because it was primarily a japanese market guitar.

Any help will be gratefully received
Thanks martin

Re: Please help

The RG3270M would be considered the higher end model, Japanese market guitar only with better pickups. You won't be able to buy either of those models new because the RG3270 was discontinued in 2004 and the RG2550e in 2007/2008.

Re: Please help

Thats ace thanks.
I only buy used guitars mainly because of price and the fact you can get a lot more guitar for the money.
I noticed on the 3270 that it hasnt got a j craft transfer on the rear of the headstock, just a serial number. Is this just because of its age? Its a wizard 3 piece neck.

Yeah, just the year of the guitar. There are a couple of them knocking about the UK for sale at the minute. A lot of guys try to pass the RG3270's off as J Custom but they are Prestige models. Great guitars.

Re: Please help

What are they worth? In good condition with case and all original accessories?
The 3270 is up at £650 and the 2550 is £500.
Are these around about what an experianced ibanez player/collector would pay?
Its difficult to judge the 3270 because of my lack of knowlege and huge ammount of rg models available.

Re: Please help

Those prices seem to be consistent enough with what those sell for. I've seen the RG3270's sell for more than that on occassion. RG2550 usually command £450-£550. Given the choice between the 2 I'd go for the RG3270.

Re: Please help

Thats the one i have decided on, it does look awesome and i believe the original wizard neck is slightly thinner than the wizard II and III, so it should suit him fine.
Not that he needs it at 14 and just over 6' his hands are bigger than mine ;0)
Thanks for all the help
Martin
