The second figure, the "0" of the serial number means that it's a 199"0" guitar and the "F" means it was made in Japan.

there is absolutly nothing wrong with that. It is just a plate put in various models in the past. Nothing wrong at all.

Hehehehe....
I remember that some weeks ago me teacher lend me his guitar, he wanted me to buy it, I thought it was a custom made 7-string, I posted it in the forum (its in the prestige and customs forum, the thread is "What can you tell me about this guitar?", I posted some pics), then they told me it was nothing more than a S5407 made in 1990, I was really dissapointed cause I thought I had a custom guitar in my hands, but oh well, I know much more about Ibanez now!!!

You cannot fail to pick up ridiculous amounts of trivia and information round here

Although the 1990 s5407 is a wicked guitar , at some point I am going to have to go looking for one, not too many of them about, so although not custom, it's pretty rare

Quite a few of the hign end s540's (and some others) have a custom made inlay, kind of gives the wrong idea, but they are still fantastic instruments
