A possible defect on my RG1527 - Or is it a defect? = need your evaluation

I have been thinking about the fact that the neck is slightly oblique for a while. I am not sure about the fact that it is a defect. Therefore I ask you who plays on a RG1527: Is it a defect?

Judge by these pictures: (I apologize for the poor quality of the pictures)

Thanks!

PS: If you have similar pictures of your RG 1527 I would be glad to see them.

Thanking you in anticipation

Are you talking about the neck joint angle how the fretboard doesnt seem to be even? Because I know thats how they are supposed to be to have the right alignment with the heioght of the bridge (correct me if i'm wrong).

i had this "problem" recently before i sent my 1527 in for a full setup and fret dress. my tech (who btw is really good) said the angle is supposed to be like that

Mine was like that...I couldn't get the neck adjusted properly...not could I get the action low at any point to where it didn't buzz...

The neck should be like that if you want to get you trem setup to work right. To TOC, the shim was probably TOO big, this will cause buzz too. I suggest you consult rich's tech section at Ibanez rules (swirl banner at the top).

I wouldn't experiment, take it to a pro for a setup. Save the experimenting for the Fenders and Gibsons.

Dino has good advice if you're not confident in setting a guitar up. But if you think you can get it done yourself Rich's tech section (link right below) has pretty much everything you can do to an Ibanez setup-wise.

There's nothing terribly wrong about your Rg - it just has a shim under the end of the neck - if you can't work out why the shim is there, again, leave any setting up work to a decent tech - you can't really do much harm (unless you manage to do something really dumb like snap the truss rod), but you can make your guitar feel a whole lot worse before it feels any better!

Re: A possible defect on my RG1527 - Or is it a defect? = need your evaluation

Actually, that's pretty close to where it should be.

FWIW, I personally think that RG's ship with too LITTLE neck angle, and almost wiithout exception every RG7 I've ever bought has gotten an almost immediate neck shim and increase in bridge height, and has played better for it. A slightly steeper neck angle coupled with a slightly higher bridge equates to low action and a bit more pullup, and something about the "feel" seems a little nicer, but that could be straight-up placebo effect.

This is actually one of the reasons I'm a little hesitant about buying fixed neck guitars, you can't adjust neck angle.

Re: A possible defect on my RG1527 - Or is it a defect? = need your evaluation

Necks are supposed to have a concave bend towards the strings. Strings vibrate elliptically. The bend in the neck helps prevent buzz. The amount of bend is controlled by the truss rod and tension put on the neck by the strings.

I doubt your RG has a shim. Guitars with recessed Floyds don't need shims.

They don't need them, but then you might have missed what Drew said.
