Prestige 2550GW

Im about to orderr one of these after a long think about jems etc.
I was going to go for the 555 but thats supposed to be a complete dog of a thing.
I hate going by other peoples recomendations but some of the arguments about trems and stuff seem to make sence. There is none is any of the shops over here to even try it out and abuse the trem before i buy one so i think im gonna pass.

The Prestige RG 2550GW looks like a sweet guitar and much better than the jem!
I have have been trwaling through sites and reviews and cant really find anything bad about them .... except for the guy here having tuning problems.

Does anyone have one??
What do you think of it before i push the buy now button

Re: Prestige 2550GW

All of the Prestige range are great guitars, the only thing some people aren't keen on is the bridge pup which is decent enough but easily changed.

Re: Prestige 2550GW

I think you'll like the 2550. I do I've had mine for three years now. Excellent guitar.

The DiMarzio/Ibz pickups seem to be a bit like Marmite... you love them or you hate them. I think they're very good but others around here seem to dislike them. Why I'm not sure... I suppose the only way you'll know is when you get hold of it and try it out!

Re: Prestige 2550GW

Marmite? for shame.... go out and get yourself the real thing.....VEGIMITE!

on a less improtant and less antagonistic note .... the 2550's are fabulous but i like the older ones (2005) with the dot inlay as opposed to the sharkfin on the newer ones (2007 to present).

Re: Prestige 2550GW

Thanks for the input lads.

I have a an S series with the stock ibanez pickups and i love them. not very much top end but nice bottom end.

I have a project 350 which rip apart every now and then to try out different things.
I put 2 screamin' demons in it, (brigde and neck) and they were incredible. Perfect balance for treb and bass!!

Id be afraid to do that on a guitar like my prestige and S series though incase i f*ck it up

I have one of these older models and I love it. Great guitar to play. I personally changed the humbuckers to a Steve's Special in the bridge and a Breed in the neck and it's dreamy right now. The stock humbuckers are ok but a bit 'middle of the road' to my taste. The fit and finish of everything is perfect and the routing etc etc is top notch. I would highly recommend it.

It's my first and only Ibanez guitar right now (slow learner) but it won't be my last.

Re: Prestige 2550GW

I just got the 2550 in black, and it's a great guitar, but I'm not too fond of the pickups. I'm going to live with them for now though, because they're not terrible, and I dont want to spend any more money on guitar-related purchases this year. That being said, I absolutely love this guitar, and I'm sure you will love yours too!

Talking Re: Prestige 2550GW

Jeesh, they can't even spell their national delicacy properly...VegEmite !! lol !!! Anyway I hate Marmite and Vegemite, so there !! Pyuk !!
As for the pups, the neck pup is great, not a million miles away from the Air Norton actually. The bridge pup is bright and more powerful than you may think, but it gives a clear and defined distortion which is very unforgiving to sloppy playing. The main thing is they are usually set too low in the body and the action is too high out of the box, sort that out and they scream pretty good.
