problem with floyd on rg1077xl

have a little "problem" with my floyd. When i pull up on the bar, so the pitch goes up, and then lets go, so it returns to normal pitch, the tuning is a bit off. Not much, just a tad higher on some of the strings. However, when i dip the bar after that (so the pitch go down), and then release the pitch is normal again. I was thinking that it might be the Knife-edges?
help?

Nup, unless its noticably out of tune (quite a bit) thats very normal for a floyd equipped guitar. Congrats on the awesome guitar as well!

Re: problem with floyd on rg1077xl

Make sure your trem studs are locked, too, and your strings are properly broken in. Rather than filing the knife edges, though, start by lubricating the trem contact points - as a mountian biker, I use Pedro's Extra Dry chain lube - works like a charm.

As long as it's only a cent or too, you're probably fine - this is typical of Floyds.

Re: problem with floyd on rg1077xl

He means stretch them, strings can stetch up to an inch from when they are put on to when there are finished stretching. Without stretching them a floyd is useless.

Re: problem with floyd on rg1077xl

well i did and i still canīt find whatīs wrong

Oh, another problem iīm having is this....
I tune toi Bb ok, thatīs not low right?...it is a baritone...
But i just canīt get the intonation right on the 7th string, i need the string to be longer (the pitch is to high when i fret at 12th fret)
How can this be?
I thought that a baritone was the sulotion to this... since the scale is longer?

Re: problem with floyd on rg1077xl

Have you adjusted your intonation? A extended scale can help intonation on lower tunings, but you still have to have it intonated correctly.

Re: problem with floyd on rg1077xl

you can affect the intonation also by adjusting action, make the string higher or lower

Re: problem with floyd on rg1077xl

Reading ibanezrules advice and advice on here, strings should be fully stretched BEFORE locking down the nut,so even if they've been on for a while it wont matter if they weren't properly stretched first.

Yes, they ceased making them in '02 & '04 respectively. Details here:
