Cool Proud owner of a RGR420EX RED ARCTIC FROST

Very wow. Ibanez didnít disappoint with this guitar as of the cost to features rule.

It has easy access neck, EMP pickups IBZ V7 (Vintage 7) pickup is tight, but bright. Very dynamic for chording and rhythm. IBZ V8 (Vintage pickup is a warm, yet articulate lead pickup with enhanced overtones Good harmonics without excessive brightness. Also has a reverse headstock and Gotoh tuning machines. This is a great metal guitar and hot looking.

Just ask Jim (JJEMMER777) as of this Sunday he had a chance to play it and was quite surprised.

I have heard others talk about Ibanez lack of quality in low end guitars. So it makes me wonder if any one actually played one of these guitars before they made this comment.

nice, I was surprised by the feel of this one fixed bridge cheap RG's at guitar center, I may buy a white one and paint F-Holes on it or something . Glad you like your guitar!

Re: Proud owner of a RGR420EX RED ARCTIC FROST

I bought it from Guitar Center for $150 off because of paint damage under the tail end Strap Lock on the body. So it covered when using a strap so no biggie.

If anyone knows where I can get touch up paint to keep it from getting worst please let me know. Thanks

It played horribly! It's blasphemous that Ibanez would release such a thing!!!

Seriously though, it really does play nicely. I'd swap out the EMG's for a Dimarzio combo, but other than that all was good. It's a solid guitar for a very reasonable price

Uh...It doesn't have EMGs to begin with. I thought it had V7/V8s in it. Unless you're confusing it with the RGR320 which has EMG *designed* pickups in it. But whatever, splitting hairs. I tend to find Dimarzio to be my upgrade pickups of choice too.

Re: Proud owner of a RGR420EX RED ARCTIC FROST

The Ibanez website and just about every ad I've seen says they are, but I agree they don't look like the usual V7/V8's.

I loved the look of this guitar when I first saw Rich's pics from Namm so it's reassuring to read that it plays well even though it's pretty much a 'budget' guitar. Definitely on my shopping list but the best I can find it for here in the UK is £349.

Wish Ibanez would release more reverse headstock models cos they take me right back to my early 80's hair rock days

They are coverd V7 and V8s, I believe. Check the spec on the first post.

For further reference, the Sakura spec calls out covered V7 and V8, so it looks like that's the way they are going with some of the new models.
