Putting a JEM neck on a RG1570?

The JEM neck is slightly thicker, flatter, and narrower, would one be able to put a JEM (Or JEM shaped neck) on a guitar originally built to have a Wizard neck? Given that both have the AANJ.

Reason being that I find the Wizard neck is a touch too wide and thin compared to the JEM neck, and even compared to the Wizard-II.

Yes, no problem, as long as the guitar is MIJ or MIK and has the same number of frets. MII wouldn't have any problems either but the mounting holes would have to be relocated as the MII guitars use different locations.

Nice, thanks for the info.

While I'm at it, I'm wondering how neck width changes the string spacing. Is it just an illusion that it feels like wider necks have more spaced out strings?

I would have figured that the nut and bridge would always be the same size. Or is that not true?

Sorry for the thread jack, but I didn't think this would deserve it's own -So by that same token, would you be able to swap the necks on a 1570 and 1550m?

Both are MIJ, but they're of a different age.

So difference in neck width wouldn't matter? I know that the mounting joints are identical, but i'm finding it hard to believe that the strings will sit just fine on the neck.

But then again, I know nothing about fabrication.

Re: Putting a JEM neck on a RG1570?

The neck width and string spacing are two different specs. The string spacing is determined by the bridge and the nut. One can have the same string spacing on a wider neck, but generally, the strings will be spaced further apart. If you use the same nut as you currently have, you will retain the same string spacing. If the Jem neck is narrower, this might not work. You might be wise to verify that the nut is the same spec on your guitar as on the Jem before you do this. Rich at Ibanez Rules would likely be able to help you.

Older Jems use a 56mm neck, the RG takes a 58mm.
