Re: Q:is RG770 with the hollywood neck plate?

Nope. It was made in Japan (FujiGen factory) and only assembled in the USA. Blank / no number on a neck plate is normal. The real serial is on the back of the headstock. 750 / 770 = same neck (bound rosewood board, Wizard profile, sharktooth inlays). The RG7xx series had IBZUSA pickups.

Talking Re: Q:is RG770 with the hollywood neck plate?

so It is the close neck to it with proper (no SERIAL)plate. I figured it was close to the original neck it was split real bad and separated from the fretboard after 2 poor repairs. I did it properly and got the headstock and profile of the neck just right in my jig and its very good for a repaired one. cant wait for the right pups ...should I go IBZ? I was leaning toward inf or a hot but sustain pickup with airy sound... tired of buying pickups and not getting what I want... is this body alder or basswood? 92 RG 770dx right? thanks DEE your awesome in knowledge!!!

Re: Q:is RG770 with the hollywood neck plate?

If you want to restore the guitar to how it was originally, IBZ/USA F4 (neck), C3 (single coil), and F2 (bridge) are the pickups you should try and find. To be honest, those pickups are good but nothing special, there are plenty of better choices but it's up to you. INF pickups are not good! They come installed in only very cheap guitars. Avoid them.

Body is basswood.

RG770DX has a clear pickguard, so if it doesn't have this, it's just a regular RG770, not a DX.

Re: Q:is RG770 with the hollywood neck plate?

The pickguard is screwed on.

I sent you a private message about pickups. It really depends on how you want the guitar to sound man. If you want a great all-round set of pups maybe you could try Dimarzio PAF Pro.

Hopefully my RG550 should be here soon.

Thanks for the kind comments bro!

Just a thought -- the catalogs at Rich's site might be helpful to you.
