Re: quality 7 string electric guitar(s) you have played?

I love the first run UNiverse models; neck is just perfect for me.

ESP LTD hardtail (string thru body) is really nice. Cheap, but try several and you should find at least one with good wood. Replace pickups and hardware...sweet.

Ibanez 7-string acoutic is damn sweet. Nicer than any 6-string under $1k I have played.

Conklin BD sig 7-string bass- totally sweet.

I love thin (front to back) profile necks with that flattened C shape, versus big baseball bat necks. New UV's are too thick for me, more like a C that isnt flattened.

Re: quality 7 string electric guitar(s) you have played?

The Universe line of guitars have always been pretty good quality and the same goes for the 7620/1527.

The Ibanez 7 string acoustic was pretty darn good(sometimes regret selling mine). Sounded just as good as any $1000 Martin/Taylor.

ESP M7 (Japanese domestic model), pretty nice actually. Neck felt similar to my UV777bk. Just wished it had a reverse pointy headstock like my MII-Deluxe. Superb build quality.

7 string PRS - Ok, this HAD to be a custom one off. Essentially a Custom 24 with a 7th string. I guess the neck would be considered an EXTRA wide thin neck. Nice looking, but not worth burning a hole in my pocket book.

J-Custom JCRG-7vv/RG8527/RG8127 - Very nice guitars from Ibanez. About the same price as a Universe but with a better heel joint. Too bad it never came with an Ebony board with flame maple binding and a tree of life inlay.

ESP Stephen Carpenter 7 string model - Not bad since it's a neck through guitar, but why the hell is the neck pickup in the middle? Definitely not a guitar I'd buy because of the pickup placement.

Re: quality 7 string electric guitar(s) you have played?

I have played quite a few 7 strings...I'll start with other than Ibanez:

Soloway Swan: Awesome guitar, Jim definitely doesn't cut any corners. I will say that the model I played was geared more towards a jazz players style of playing with the string tension being a little heavy for my style.

LGM Leviathan: Met up with Jeremy at winter NAMM last year and got to check out the Leviathan which is a kick ass rock guitar. It was smooth and really easy to play and sounded great.

Schecter hardtail....Some guy I know has one..and I really thought it was junk

ESP 207LTD....This guitar is a real pile...the only good thing about it IMHO was the Duncan P/U's which sounded ok

I really like the Prestige and J Custom 7 strings the best of all the 7 strings I have played

EBMM JP7 - Floating trem, locking tuners, 2 hums, 3way w/ piezo. My favorite 7-string on the market, hands down. I haven't touched another 7 that comes close in quality, feel and playability for the same price.

Liked it so much I sold all my Ibanezes.

Ibanez 7-strings. I have 2 RG 7620s (one custom), UV7PWH and an S 7420. Love 'em all. I've played ESP, Schecter, Jackson, B.C Rich, DeArmond, Squier and even Samick 7-strings. I like Ibanez better.
