Question about the edge pro bridge on higher end Ibanez

Hi folks. I am aware (by reading other posts) that alot of you guys prefer the edge pro bridge on the Ibanez prestige guitars versus the edge pro 2 on RGT's and standard RGs.

What makes the Edge pro so much better then the edge pro 2? Ive not played a edge pro (but have a pro2), however visually it seems there is no difference between two as best as I can tell. Is it just a "it feels better" type of things?

I am debating buying another Ibanez and trying to find out what will best suit my needs. Thanks for your help.

Re: Question about the edge pro bridge on higher end Ibanez

Well there are a couple of main reasons why the edge pro is better:

- The Edge pro is made at the Gotoh factoy in japan
- Its made of much higher quality HARDENED steels instead of the cheaper, softer steel used in the PRO 2
- It has the sound-metal chip which promotes longer string life, more accurate intonation and increased sustain
- Has the trem bar as used in the Edge/Lo-Pro edge which is tighter and smoother
- And although i havnt tried one yet (My RG1527 hasn't arrived yet) i would assume it would have superior feel

The Edge Pro is far superior to the Edge Pro 2 and thats why its used on the UVs, JEMs, JSs and prestiges and i cant wait to try mine out.

what he said (mostly).

the edge pro II generally has a much stiffer feel than the edge pro.

visually, they are very similar, bar the inserts that the edge pro II lacks.

Re: Question about the edge pro bridge on higher end Ibanez

The Edge Pro II ain't that bad as it is an upgrade of the old TRS trems, but after having to setup both Edge Pro and Edge Pro II trems, I gotta say that the construction on the Edge Pro II feels a bit cheap.

If you're a serious abuser of the trem, you will want either an Edge/Lo-Pro/Edge Pro or an OFR, if you're an occasional abuser of the trem, the edge pro II may be fine. In the end it all boils down to how much you use it and how abusive you are with it. But I would personally go with an Edge Pro over an Edge Pro II.
