Question question about the grain on this Premium maple neck

Hi,

I got a new Ibanez Premium 7 string, and I noticed this weird grain on the upper part of the neck.

Are these brown curved stripes (I'm not talking about the walnut laminate pieces) a sign of a cheap and lesser quality wood?
I think the last pic shows the stripes I'm talking about the best.
In terms of looks this does not bother me, but does this affect sound or stability of the neck?

I'd appreciate some input of luthiers/guys with knowledge about tone-woods.

Here are the pics:

Thanks,
Lars

You're fine. It's just wood grain. It's not a sign of anything other than it being wood. Nothing to worry about

Those are mineral streaks. It's only a cosmetic issue and won't affect the tone or build quality of your instrument. No worries.

Re: question about the grain on this Premium maple neck

A luthier on a different forum suggested this might be a very mild case of ambrosia maple.

And even though he said the wood is perfectly fine, the thought of beetles having tunneled that part of the neck and having left fungus behind does kind of worry me....

Nothing here negative about ambrosia maple. It seems to be different looks, not structural weakness.

So wait, you guys are telling me that my ENTIRE GUITAR is defective?!?!

Who wants this piece of junk? It's going in my fireplace if it isn't claimed by the end of the week.

I don't think once the wood is dry and refinished that it could spread any fungus:

Never seen that model before, love the spalted top. Very gas inducing.

Rock on!
